Roll Call Tribute

Jason Baadsgaard '89 April 4, 2024 11:52 AM updated: April 4, 2024 11:57 AM

Jason Collier Baadsgaard

February 13, 1967 - April 26, 2023

Jason Baadsgaard of Houston passed away peacefully while traveling in Argentina on April 26, 2023, as he spoke on the phone with his wife Kristin. He also leaves behind his beloved children Owen and Riley, who were the source of his deepest pride and greatest joy.

Jason embodied the scale and the spirit of his home state of Texas. He strode through life with unmatched purpose and gusto, always leaving big footprints that invited others to follow. His genuine and effortless charisma drew people to him like a magnet. He was the straw that stirred all drinks, the source of the loudest laughter and the teller of stories that, while not always encumbered by facts, never failed to inspire and captivate. It is fitting that Jason passed as he lived, on a great adventure, surrounded by dear friends, with an ending that can only perpetuate his bigger than life persona.

In business, Jason was a unicorn; a rare combination of scientist, evangelist, and politician who always kept himself and his teams focused on delivering the best outcomes for all parties. He leaves behind a legacy of top performers and leaders that he led and mentored over years of consistent successes.

But Jason’s greatest achievement was as a family man. He chose, in Kristin, someone who matched and complimented his extraordinary talents equally with her own. He was an extraordinary father, at once a role model and playmate, a cheerleader and comforter, a safe place to land and a rock to lean on. For the whole family, the depth of this loss is merely a testament to how amazing Jason was, and they are reminded that grief is just love with nowhere to go.

Jason was preceded in death by his mother, Jan, and is survived by his father, Richard, stepmother Jo, brother Rick and wife Jennifer and their children Megan, Connor and Noah.
