Michael Wayne Williams 

April 21, 1950 - September 7, 2023 

Michael Wayne Williams, (Mike) age 73, passed away 9-7-23 at 7:25 pm. Michael was born in Texas City, TX in Danforth Hospital which only had 6 patient beds. He primarily grew up in La Marque, TX where he attended public school for 12 years. His mother was a third-grade teacher, and his father was an Assistant Superintendent for La Marque ISD.

Michael attended Sam Houston State University for a semester, and then went to Abilene Christian College. After graduating from ACC (1972) he obtained his master’s degree (1973) in Educational Curriculum and Instruction, from Texas A&M University in College Station, TX. He obtained an additional 45 graduate level hours in Educational Administration. Michael taught for six years in Spring ISD at Ponderosa Elementary and got his first administrative position as an assistant principal at Tomball Elementary. After a few years, he became the principal of Tomball Elementary and left that principalship in August 1989 to work in the HR Department for TISD. He stayed in that position for 24 years and retired in 2011 with 38 years in education. His retiring Superintendent was John P. Neubauer. He hired back on with the district and worked in a part-time position for 2 years, under the direction of Deputy Superintendent, Huey Kinchen and Superintendent, John Neubauer; thus, completing 40 years. John Paul Neubauer became one of his closest friends until the day Michael passed. He always enjoyed working on the Neubauer Farm with John in Pearson Chapel outside of Lovelady, TX and with his two sons, Wes and Garrett. Together they made many jars of jelly, and talked about their hobbies, one of which was their collection of hard to find “library books”.

Michael is a husband, a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Michael is preceded in death by his father, Fred Stewart Williams of Pasadena, TX. and his mother, Clara Faye Platt Williams (Missy) of Lovelady, TX. Both of his parents, along with his grandparents, and great-grandparents are buried north of Lovelady in the Center Hill Cemetery with many of his aunts and uncles.

Survivors include his wife, Cathy Anne Bain Williams, brother, Fred Stewart Williams Jr., wife Sue; his sister Janice Elizabeth Carraway, husband Bill; his son Andrew Platt Williams, and wife, Karen; his daughter Amanda Hope Roman, husband George; his step-daughter Wendy Marie Klotz, husband Jason; his step-son Jason Michael Bain, wife Precious; grandchildren: Hunter Blake Williams, Joshua Justin Williams, Nicholas Alexander Roman, Clara Hope Roman, Reagan Marie Klotz, Vaughn Joseph Klotz, Lana Marie Klotz, Stetson Michael Stamper, and Hagen Montgomery Bain. He also had one great-grandchild Liam John Aguilar-Williams.

Michael had a philosophy that we could count our true friends on one hand. He was straightforward and folks always knew where they stood with him. He had a unique style of being able to work for whoever his leader and mentor was. He loved his staff of secretaries and administrative assistants. He had their back(s) and they too had his.

Michael never wanted recognition in life but was always willing to let others be recognized. He loved his church and stayed with his upbringing as a Christian man. His family meant everything to him, and he believed that we all need to put Christ first in our life, family should be next, and then your profession.

After retirement, Michael became interested in genealogy, and he was able to join the SRT (The Sons of the Republic of Texas) and SAR (Sons of the American Revolution). Michael also belonged to the Old 300 Genealogy group because his qualifying grandfather was William Rabb, (GG5) who came to Texas in 1821 with Stephen F. Austin. His father’s family was one of the first 300 families to come to Texas.

Michael along with Andrew, Hunter, and George had a weakness for “classic vehicles”. He also believed that as a patriot, the Texas flag and the US flag should be flown daily and respected since so many died for our freedom.

Michael’s desire is that he left not only his footprint on his family and friends, but thru him each person saw Christ and the need for Christ in their own personal life. Michael was not ready to depart; however, he was not afraid of departing.

Today, our loss of Michael (Mike) is great, but God is greater… and as Michael would always say, “This world is not my home, I’m just a passing thru” …..
