Michael Fred "Mike" Pearson 

October 8, 1956 - March 14, 2024 

Michael (“Mike”) Fred Pearson, 67, passed away at his home on March 14, 2024.

Mike was born on October 8, 1956, in Portsmouth, Virginia, to James and Patricia (Sheridan) Pearson. He attended Texas A&M University graduating Class of ’79 with a Bachelor of Science in Building Construction. There, he met Tedda Ann Atwood, and the two were married on August 25, 1979 in Houston, Texas.

During college, Mike was a member of the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets, Company E-2. After college, Mike proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. Following Surface Warfare Officers School, he was assigned to the Combat Information Center aboard the U.S.S. Kalamazoo, where he traveled the world. In 1983, Mike was honorably discharged from the Navy with the rank Lieutenant Junior Grade and was later promoted to Lieutenant during his service in the Navy Reserves.

After the Navy, he pursued a career in construction management as he and Tedda started a family. Mike worked in residential construction in the San Antonio area for many years before taking on government construction work that would lead him around the world to a project in Kyrgyzstan.

Mike had many hobbies over the years and especially cherished sharing his interests with his family. He enjoyed and competed in archery during college and introduced that passion to Tedda and later his children, who both competed nationally. Additionally, he volunteered his time by coaching other youths through the Junior Olympic Archery Development Program. His love of the sport led him to pursue and achieve the designation of a National Archery Association Level 3 Archery Coach in 2001. Mike was an early and self-taught computer enthusiast, and he instilled an interest in technology in his children, especially Chris. Throughout their childhood, he also supported his children’s passions by volunteering as a little league baseball coach for Chris’s baseball team and as a “band parent” to Joann’s high school marching band. Later in life, he enjoyed recreational shooting with friends.

Mike is survived by his wife of 44 years Tedda; children, Chris and Joann; parents, James and Patricia; siblings, Drew, Laura, Deanne, and Susan; and grandchildren, Logan, Carlee, and Charlotte.

Funeral services will be April 12, 2024, beginning with a private graveside service with military honors at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery beginning promptly at 10:45 a.m., immediately followed by a private celebration and remembrance of Mike’s life with close family and friends.
