Gene L. McMichael

February 16, 1935 - March 5, 2024

Gene L. McMichael, 89, of Manns Choice, PA departed from the home he loved, on March 5, 2024. In God's perfect timing, he had all his family there around him, as he crossed his "finish line" into God's awesome Peace and Rest.

Gene was born on February 16, 1935 in Fort Worth, TX. His parents were Eugene and Hattie McMichael of Midlothian, TX. He was married to his wife Elvira de Silva in 1972 who preceded him in 2019, and to Teresa de Silva who he married in 1959 and had preceded him in 1971. He also had two daughters Natushka and Marianna who preceded in 2007 and 2021, respectively.

Gene is survived by daughter Monica Strait and her husband Alan Strait of Slanesville, WV; a grandson Austin Lee Strait of Sanford, FL; daughter Marcia A. Ferrell of Augusta, WV; son Alex McMichael and his wife Jan of Clermont, FL; and his brother Ronnie McMichael and his wife Carol of Midlothian, TX

Gene was a college graduate/cadet of Texas A&M University, Class of '57. He completed his Physical Therapy education at Baylor University in 1958. He retired as a Major in the Air Force, at Homestead AFB and served from 1959-1979.

Gene held three jobs after his military career, and the third was the one he stayed with for 12 years, as a delivery truck driver for SWS delivering fine wines and spirits, and earned the title of "box king" which his fellow coworkers gave him.

After moving to Manns Choice in 2000, Gene enjoyed spending his time reading westerns, watching his sports on TV, especially his AGGIES, growing tomatoes and banana peppers in his raised garden, and definitely had to have a few "scratch off" tickets each week, and had to use his "lucky 50 cent" coin.

Gene had his own "unique" sense of humor, too! He recently gave his daughter Marcia, permission to have "he wasn't picky" engraved on his tombstone, since he would pretty much eat whatever you put in front of him. He also loved his two pup companions, Mandy Mae and Dannyboy. Gene was a very generous and caring father and friend and we all will miss him greatly.

His family will have viewings on Friday, March 8th, 2024 from 4-7 pm and on Saturday, March 9th, 2024 from 1-2 pm with service at 2 pm held at the Geisel-Styer Funeral Home in Schellsburg, PA with Pastor Russell Hoffman speaking for his family.

Interment will be at Milligan's Cove Cemetery, Buffalo Mills, PA.

Online condolences may be expressed at http://www.geiselfuneral.com/. Arrangements entrusted to Geisel-Styer Funeral Home, Schellsburg, Pennsylvania.
