George Howard Miller 

January 8, 1930 - February 27, 2024 

George Howard Miller passed away February 27, 2024, at his home in Brady, Texas. George was born January 8, 1930, to Gladys (Kelly) Miller and Orie Howard Miller in Nebraska. They moved to Shawnee, Oklahoma, for his early years. His father was in the Navy and transferred to Corpus Christi where he finished High School at Sundeen High. He was very active in sports and won many awards in football, basketball, and track. He was also voted Most Handsome of his class.

Upon graduation he attended Texas Western in El Paso, now known as The University of Texas at El Paso. He received his bachelor's degree in science, specializing in Geology. George then joined the Air Force. After his time was spent there, he attended Texas A&M University and received his master's in petroleum engineering. He was a Certified Petroleum Geologist and spent his life looking for black gold. He also had several associate degrees from Del Mar College, Midland College, and the University of Texas.

While attending A&M, he came to Mason County to work on his thesis. He met Carrie Lange at a local drug store where she was working. He said she was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. They married on May 19, 1958. They lived all over before finally settling in Brady in 1973. They had 3 children.

George traveled a lot in his younger days but when he was home, he would make up for the time lost while he was away. Trips to the zoo, picnics, attending all of his kid's events and teaching them lessons in life. His greatest joy came when his grandkids began to arrive. He brought home anything from pink shoes to pianos for them. He was always in the stands cheering them on in everything they did.

He is proceeded in death by his wife Carrie Miller, his parents and son-in-law Bryan Howell.

George is survived by his three children Georgina (Joe) Partin of Brady, Howard Miller of Brownwood, and Glenda Howell and Chad Shipman of Brady, nine grandkids Jenny (Coby) Hutcheson of Ovalo, Texas, Jane (Rick) Clare of Collierville, Tennessee, Justice Thomas and Jeremy Summers of San Angelo, Blake (Anna) Madden of St. Petersburg, Florida, Nolan Mullins of Brady, Ashlyn (Cole) of Justin, Texas, Charla Duffy of Arlington, Sladyn Howell of San Diego, California, and Amberly Howell of San Angelo. He also had 10 great-grandkids. The great grandkids all thought he was the best thing ever. He would keep chocolate kisses in his fridge to lure them to come visit him. He is also survived by his brother Leonard Dean Miller and a niece and nephew from California.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Hill Country Preferred Hospice. His nurse Nikki took care of him and added precious time onto his life. Thank you to his LVN Margaret and his aide Ariel. They all took such good care of him, and he loved them dearly. Also, Amber Gonzales stepped in and took care of him at the end. We will forever be grateful to these women and the care they provided.
