Larry Dee Crocker 

October 10, 1943 - December 31, 2023 

Larry Dee Crocker, 80, of DeRidder, LA, passed peacefully from this world surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, December 31, 2023, at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital.

Larry, Daddy, GP, Paw, was nothing if not accomplished. Beyond his education, service to his country, and his hobbies, his greatest achievement was his family. Larry was born October 10, 1943, and was a graduate of Hardin High School in Texas. Following high school, he completed his education at Texas A&M University with a Bachelor degree in Wildlife Management. He served his country faithfully for twenty-five years, retiring as a LTC in the United States Army. He led troops in Vietnam where he was awarded numerous medals to include The Bronze Star and The Purple Heart.

Larry loved all things outdoors; fishing, hunting, and gold prospecting were just a few of his favorite hobbies.

Those that had the pleasure of knowing him, knew he had strong opinions and loved him more because of it. Larry has gathered and made so many lasting memories with friends and family. His absence will be felt by many, and those memories and stories will be passed down for generations to come.

You will forever be our Hero. Rest in Peace, Larry, Daddy, GP, Paw ~ It’s not goodbye, it’s I’ll see you later.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of thirty-nine years, Cala Crocker of DeRidder, LA; son, Larry Crocker, Jr. and fiancé, Crystal Roberts of Magnolia, TX; daughters, Dana Barnett and Marc of Conroe, TX, Jolyn Piatt and Lonnie of Conroe, TX; brother, Norman Crocker and Onalee of IN; grandchildren, Quinton Walton, Allyssa Walton-Baker, Colby Martinez, Hunter Crocker; great grandchildren, Brantley Walton, Kaiden Walton, Crue Blaire Martinez and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy Crocker; parents, Marvin, and Hester Crocker; brothers, Carey Crocker, and Oran Crocker.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM, Thursday, January 4, 2024, also at Myers Colonial Funeral Home. Brother Todd Keel will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Quinton Walton, Grant Keel, Dalton Keel, Hunter Crocker, Mitch Jeane, Lonnie Piatt.

Graveside service will be held on Friday, Jan. 05, 2024, at Hardin Chapel Cemetery Hardin, TX. Proctor’s Mortuary 2221 Hwy 90 Liberty Texas will be in charge of this service.
