Thomas Keith "Tom" Terry

September 20, 1949 - February 19, 2024

Thomas Keith Terry, 74, passed away on Monday, February 19th at Seton Northwest Hospital in Austin, TX, less than a mile from where he lived with his family for thirty-two years. He was born on September 20, 1949, in Heidelberg, Germany to Dudley Keith Terry and Celia Marie Morgan.

A graveside service will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery on Sunday, March 3, at 1:00 PM.

Tom lived in Germany, Kempner, Killeen, and Lampasas while growing up. He graduated from Lampasas High School in 1967, where he played football and as a senior was captain of the baseball team and president of the student council. He attended Texas A&M University as a member of the Aggie Corp of Cadets. After graduating in 1971, Tom continued to study at Texas A&M, receiving his Master of Business Administration in 1972. Tom served in the Texas National Guard for twenty-five years, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. His early career was in computer sales, and later he worked with his brother Bill as a real estate appraiser in Austin for many years. After returning to Lampasas, Tom managed the family ranch and served on the Lampasas County Appraisal Review Board, was on the Lampasas County Museum Board, and was a member of the Lampasas County A&M Club.

Tom was known by all as a warm, friendly person who always made others feel welcome and valued. He enjoyed jogging, reading history, building model tanks, watching the Astros, going to the beach, and competing annually in the Lometa Diamondback Jubilee Chili Cook-off with his family and Brady's World Championship BBQ Goat Cook-off with his friends. Tom was a proud blood donor who donated more than twenty-five gallons over the years.

He is preceded in death by his father, Dudley, mother, Celia, sister, Deborah, stepmother, Patsy and stepbrother, Fred.

Tom is survived by his wife of 53 years, Debora; his son, Jason Terry (Julie); his daughter, Alison Weir (John); his grandchildren, Braden, Katelyn, and Jackson Terry, and Celia, Arden and Ashlyn Weir, and his brothers, Bill Terry and Charles Lawson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Lampasas County Museum at PO Box 373, Lampasas, TX, 76550.
