Wayne Franklin Liska

September 16, 1940 - February 18, 2024

Wayne Franklin Liska, beloved husband and father, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2024. He was born on September 16, 1940 to Rudolph and Norma Liska of Runge, Texas. He was the oldest of 4 siblings.

Wayne attended all 12 years of school in Runge, Texas graduating from Runge High School in 1958. He delivered milk to everyone's front porch in Runge from age 5, delivered newspapers and worked in the oil fields during school breaks and summer months. After graduating high school, he attended Texas A&M University (Class of 1962) graduating with a degree in Business. Wayne bled maroon and loved his Fighting Texas Aggies! As an avid Aggie supporter, the Aggies were always going to be the National Champs "next year".

After his Aggie graduation, he worked as a salesman for the oil and gas industry and then landed a job with Kraft Foods. He worked 35 years for Kraft Foods. Wanting to be an entrepreneur, he started his own vending machine business called TV Cartoon Toys, LLC selling toys, candy, and gum to hundreds of local businesses in South Texas for 43 years. Wayne was the best salesman!

He met the love of his life and wife Carolyn in San Antonio, Texas on one of his business trips with Kraft Foods. They were married for 53 years and had two children, Jessica and Landon.

Wayne loved the game of golf and played every chance he had. He loved watching all sports but especially ANY Aggies sport. He looked forward to taking many yearly bus trips to College Station to watch his Aggies play football. He also served as the Donna Quarterback Club president and the Pan American Golf Association president for many years raising funds for the local youth community. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, teasing them every chance he had. He always had a positive attitude and loved to give any kind of advice. Wayne was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Donna where he served as a deacon and in recent years served as an elder.

Wayne is survived by his wife Carolyn, daughter Jessica Korenek (Keith), son Landon Liska (Michelle), son Wayne Palmer, son Wade Palmer (Amanda), brother Raymond Liska (late wife Marilyn), grandchildren Seth Korenek, Sierra Korenek, Tatum Liska, Trenton Liska, Derek Palmer, Dane Palmer, Wade (LW) Palmer, Laney Palmer, and Greyson Palmer and three great grandchildren.
