Roll Call Tribute

Jack Dennison '65 February 24, 2024 12:44 PM updated: February 24, 2024 12:52 PM

Jack Arnold Dennison

April 20, 1935 - June 16, 2023

Jack Arnold Dennison was born on April 20, 1935, in Nome, Texas. He was the ninth and youngest child of Andrew Dennison and Maggie Hornberger Dennison.

The Dennisons moved to Waller and Jack attended Waller High School where he met the love of his life Virginia Mason. The sweethearts married in 1955 and soon started a family. A few years later Jack and Virginia moved to College Station so Jack could attend his beloved Texas A&M University. Jack received a degree in electrical engineering in 1965, moved back to Waller, and joined Texaco where he worked for over 35 years.

Jack and Virginia were an integral part of the Waller community. Jack’s life centered on God and family, and he was very active at Waller Baptist Church. Jack served as a deacon there alongside some of his best friends and was still serving until just a few months ago.

Jack loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing were his hobbies. One of his favorite places to visit was Estes Park, Colorado where he hunted elk and camped. Jack and Virginia would make the trip pulling a fifth wheel trailer because Virginia didn’t care much for flying. Of course, Jack had flown all over the world but would do anything for his love Virginia.

Jack was a caring person and a trusted friend to many in Waller. He could fix just about anything and was always available to lend a hand to someone in need. He was a doer and a problem solver but most of all he was a lover of Jesus. He told anyone who would listen about the beautiful love of our Lord and Savior, wanting everyone he met to experience God’s grace. Jack wasn’t perfect, as none of us are, but he did his best and Jesus was always top of mind and he made his family proud.

He is preceded in death by Virginia, and his daughter Lisa. He is survived by his sons Brian and Michael, their spouses Karen and Kimmi, as well as grandchildren Josh, Joel, Bethany, Austi, Logan, Tori, and six great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Monday, June 26, 2023, from 5-7pm at Canon Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at 10am at Waller Baptist Church with Pastor Blake Nichols officiating. Interment will follow at Fieldstore Cemetery.
