Janet Marie (Mousa) Huseth 

September 3, 1963 - December 23, 2023 

Janet Marie Huseth, 60, entered into life everlasting peacefully on December 23, 2023, surrounded by her family at T. Boone Pickens Hospice in Dallas, Texas after a valiant fight against breast cancer. She was born in Houston, Texas on September 3, 1963, the first of three children, to Helen and Charles Mousa, Sr.

As a young adult, Janet was very active in school, in church and the Syrian Lebanese community. Graduating from Westbury High School in 1982, Janet was top of her class active as an officer on the drill team, theater, Anchor Club, National Honor Society and served on the student cabinet. Her passion for her Lebanese and Syrian roots is represented by her leadership roles as Young Adults President, and Scholarship Director for the Southern Federation of Syrian Lebanese American Clubs. She attended almost every convention!

A graduate of Texas A&M University, Class of 1986, Janet received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with Honors. She was active in her sorority Delta Zeta and served as pledge director. She loved Texas A&M. Following in her father’s footsteps as well as cousins and uncles, her home was adorned with Maroon and White. Gig ‘em!

Her faith and passion for the Orthodox Church was contagious. She shared her faith with friends and family, bringing people together while guiding them in prayer. She lived her life as an Orthodox Christian always telling people to “Give it to God!”. While at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church in Houston, Texas she was on the winning national Bible Bowl team, directed the Sunday School program, managed the annual nativity play working alongside deacon Tommy, now Bishop Thomas Antoun of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America. Active at Sts. Constantine & Helen Orthodox Church in Carrollton, Texas she also served as director of the Sunday School program, Youth Director as well as a member of the Women of St. Helen. Janet was a cheerful giver supporting the church and joining the Order of St. Ignatius.

In her professional life, Janet worked for Consilio as Director of Legal Placement for over 20 years where she received numerous awards for her success. She was recently named a “Rising Star” a few days before her passing. Fittingly, a star is officially named in her honor. During Janet’s final hour she asked for her laptop to complete a project. She never quit.

Janet loved her children and served leadership roles in the Young Men’s Service League and National Charity League. She was active in her children’s lives and cared for them while teaching them about their Orthodox faith. She would always watch football, movies and TV shows with her family and friends. You would not have to go to e-news since Janet knew everything about everyone in Hollywood! As the ultimate party planner and hostess, Janet made sure every guest in her home was treated as family and ensured the attention deserved. She always made sure everyone was fed. She was the most selfless person anyone could have met, with such a kind heart.

Janet is survived by her loving husband of 31 years, Gordon Huseth and her three children, Peter Charles Huseth, Zachary Paul Huseth and Christina Grace Huseth, her mother Helen Mousa and two siblings, Charles Mousa (Rebecca), and George Mousa (Suzanne). Janet is preceded in death by her father, Charles Mousa Sr. and loving husband to Helen. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and her niece.

Pallbearers include Blake Bickham, Edward Foteh, Charles Mousa, Frank Mousa, II, Frank Mousa, III, George Mousa, George Charles Mousa, Louis Murad, David Nayfa, James Nayfa, and Mike Anthony Sanchez. 

In lieu of flowers, Janet would want any and all donations to go to a Memorial Fund for iconography to be written to Sts. Constantine & Helen Orthodox Church to further the beautification of her devotion to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Funds can be sent directly to Sts. Constantine & Helen at 1225 E.
