Sam Frederick Moses

February 10, 1930 - January 5, 2024 

Sam Moses Sr., 93 years old, passed away on January 5, 2024. He was born in 1930 in Lockhart, Texas to Lebanese immigrants Robert and Badia Moses. Sam is survived by wife Jean Dickey Moses, son Sam Moses, Jr. and wife Judy Deaton Moses, daughter Judy Moses Lightle and husband John Lightle, grandson Anthony Moses and wife Crystal Merryfield Moses, and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

Growing up in Lockhart, Sam was very involved in sports and also loved working in his dad’s General Store which is still standing now as Smitty’s Barbeque Dining Area.

Sam was a starter on the Texas A&M University football team from ’48 to ’51. He graduated in 1952 and he and Jean were married the same year. Sam was an Air Force veteran followed by a very successful 15 year sales and management career with Lever Brothers. In 1969 he moved to Dallas and joined forces with his late brother Bob Moses at Commercial Brokerage. Sam retired for one year and then decided to go back to work with a smaller company. Sam finally retired in 2023.

Sam was an avid golfer and was able to play many of the top 100 golf courses around the country including the Masters course in Augusta. He also loved to spend time in his workshop where many projects were produced, mostly on his Shopsmith. Sam attended All Saints Catholic Church.

The family would like to thank the pall bearers – Bob Moses, Rex Moses, James Moses, Anthony Moses, Greg Smith and Carl Ohlendorf and also family and friends for their support during this time.

The Family is planning to have a Celebration of Life on Thursday January 11, 2024 at the HOLIDAY INN, 1655 N Central Expressway, Richardson TX 75080. The Rosary begins at 6:30 PM following with a Visitation at 7:00 PM.

Friday, January 12, 2024, a Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM at All Saints Catholic Church located at 5231 Meadowcreek, Dallas, TX 75248.
