Gary Alan Finkelman 

May 22, 1961 - February 6, 2024 

Gary Alan Finkelman, age 62, passed away on February 6, 2024. Gary was born on May 22, 1961, in Houston, Texas, where he grew up to become a pillar of his community.

During Gary’s youth in Hillshire Village, he exemplified the values of the Boy Scouts of America, achieving the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout. Gary graduated from Spring Branch High School in 1979, where he was an officer of the Bear Band. He went on to attend Texas A&M University and became a cherished member of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band, B-Company, Class of ’83.

After graduating from Texas A&M, Gary found success in a two-way radio business and married Melissa. In addition to his entrepreneurial pursuits, Gary pursued his passion for service by joining the Spring Valley Police Department. Gary worked his way up and became Chief of Police at Spring Valley, with over 30 years of service. Gary served his community with unwavering dedication and integrity.

Gary’s passions included Aggie football, NASCAR, and The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. He was an active member and officer of the Gulf Coast Criminal Investigators Association. Gary will be fondly remembered for his humble heart and sense of humor. His quick wit and playful banter brought joy to countless lives.

Gary is preceded in death by his father, Otis L. Finkelman, and his mother, Betty L. Finkelman. He is survived by his wife, Melissa Finkelman, daughter, Brooke Finkelman, and sister, Laurie Geiger.
