Russell Joseph Skrehot 

August 6, 1968 - August 2, 2023 

Russell Joseph Skrehot was born on August 6, 1968 in Macon, Georgia. After several moves, he was ultimately raised in Lufkin, Texas.

At an early age it was clear that Russell had passions for nature and sports. At any time, you could find him fishing, hunting or simply enjoying time the woods. Otherwise, you might find him playing baseball with friends or practicing his jumpshot at the school gym. He carried this love of nature and sports with him throughout the entirety of his life, even adding more to it by playing flag football (and winning his college intramural championship), volleyball, canoeing and golfing.

Russell was a graduate of Lufkin High School and a proud graduate of Texas A&M University with a double major in accounting and business administration. He went on to use his analytical, organizational and leadership skills as a manager, top contributor and well-respected co-worker for thirty years at Farmers Insurance.

Of utmost importance to Russell was his faith in Jesus Christ. He lived a life of service to God and others. He was selected to serve as an elder at Northside Christian Church, his home church. He found it a privilege and joy to combine his professional skills with the heart of God to produce positive outcomes in the life of the church. His passion was also to build relational environments for people to grow in their faith. Russell spawned multiple men’s discipleship groups and would go after individuals to let each person know that they have value and to encourage them to grow in their faith walk with God. Before passing, Russell wanted everyone to know that he was at peace and that he loved you.

Russell is survived by his wife, Kristina Skrehot, and his sons Zachary and Joshua Skrehot, as well as their mother, Laura. He also leaves behind his brothers Michael and Sam Skrehot and many close family members such as grandparents, brothers in law, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Additionally, Russell leaves behind childhood and college buddies who were like family to him, and his church family.
