Michael Byron "Mike" White

April 7, 1946 - January 26, 2024

Michael Byron White, age 77, faithful follower of Christ and beloved husband, father, and grandfather, completed his work on earth and entered his heavenly home on Friday, January 26, 2024. After several years of failing health, Mike passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family who loved, adored, and admired his beautiful soul.

Mike was born on April 7, 1946 in Roswell, New Mexico to Mary Elizabeth Page White and Claude Amos White, and was the eldest of five children. God, Family, and Country were the three things that Mike valued most growing up, thus after graduating from Texas A&M University in 1968 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, he followed in his father’s footsteps and enlisted in the United States Military. After completion of Officers Candidate School (OCS) in Ft. Benning, GA, Michael was commissioned as a 2LT in the United States Army where he went on to command Armor Units in both CONUS (Continental United States) and OCONUS (Outside the continental U.S.) duty stations.

Upon his discharge from active duty after serving in the US Army for four years, Michael furthered his education and received his Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from Oklahoma University in 1973. With love of Country always dear to Michael’s heart, he faithfully served with the Army Corps of Engineers for the entirety of his 42-year career, rising to the top of his profession, and achieving the rank of SES (Senior Executive Service). Mike’s honorable service to the Corps culminated in his retirement in December 2010.

Following retirement, Michael immersed himself in conducting the Lord’s work, consistently ministering to others and relentlessly spreading God’s word. His tireless dedication to God was evident to all of those that interacted with him, and his immeasurable faith never wavered despite his struggle with declining health.

Psalm 73:26 “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever”

Michael is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Elizabeth Page White, and father, Claude Amos White.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, his forever and always, Linda Diane White; his son, Grant Andrew White (married to Lauren White); and son, Brad Phillip White (partner Nadia Vargas); grandchildren, Grace Marie White, Colton Andrew White, Macallister Michael White, and Kate Elizabeth White; sister, Claudia Craine (married to Bill Craine); sister, Beth Dunn (married to John Dunn); brother, Mark White (married to Colleen White); and sister, Laurie Jordan (married to Rick Jordan). Michael was also deeply loved by many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life for Michael will be held Thursday, February 8, 2024 at 9:30 AM at Conroe Church of Christ, 1860 Longmire Road, Conroe, Texas 77304. Following the celebration of life will be a graveside service at 3:00 PM at Aggie Field of Honor and Memorial Cemetery, 3800 Raymond Stotzer Parkway, College Station, Texas 77845.
