Robert A. "Bob" Rupp 

August 31, 1930 - February 1, 2024 

Robert A "Bob" Rupp passed away peacefully on February 1, 2024 at the age of 93.

Born on August 31, 1930, in Falfurrias, Texas, to Clyde and Lorinda Leatherman Rupp, Bob's early years on the family farm instilled in him the values of hard work and dedication that would define his life.

Bob was a graduate of Falfurrias High School, class of 1948, and carried his passion for learning and agriculture to Texas Tech University, where he earned a BS degree in Animal Science in 1952. His commitment to education continued at Texas A&M University, culminating in a Masters and PhD in Animal Science in 1975.

Bob's career was as diverse as it was impactful. After enlisting in the Air Force and attending Weather School, he served his country in Thule, Greenland, and Long Beach, California. His career included valuable tenures with the Texas Agricultural Extension Service, managing the family dairy farm in Falfurrias, overseeing dairy and cattle management in Aguadulce, Panama, and serving as an Agricultural Advisor with Texas A&M International Programs in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. After graduate school he went to Weslaco, Texas as a Livestock Specialist for the Texas A&M Extension Service in South Texas.

Away from work, Bob’s life was filled with joy and adventure. He and his beloved wife Henri built their dream retirement home in Canyon Lake, Texas, in 1996, creating a haven of memories for their family and friends. Sailing was Bob's number one hobby, a passion he pursued for over six decades. He owned seven sailboats, the last of which was his treasured 28-foot Alerion, EAGLE, often referred to by many as "The prettiest girl at the dance." His love for barbershop singing found a joyous outlet with The Hill Country Chorus, and his and Henri's shared wanderlust led them to travel extensively, both internationally and within the United States, making and revisiting friends across the globe.

Bob's friendly demeanor, generous spirit, and loving nature touched all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Lorinda Rupp, and his dear wife, Henri Ansley Vaughn Rupp. His legacy lives on through his children, Paula Rupp Baen (S. Paul Baen), Perry Rupp (Beth Walkup), and Tim Rupp (Amy Rupp); his cherished four grandchildren Salem Webb, Seth Young, Hannah Watson, and Noah Young, and his seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Margaret Glazener, James Rupp, and Eileen Patten.

Bob's life was a testament to the power of kindness, the importance of family, and the joy of pursuing one's passions. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered as a man who lived a life full of purpose, love, and adventure. His presence will continue to be felt in the gentle breeze across the waters he sailed and in the hearts of those who had the good fortune to know him. The world is undoubtedly a better place for having had Robert A "Bob" Rupp in it.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a donation to M.D. Anderson Cancer Research or CRRC of Canyon Lake (The CRRC serves the residents of Canyon Lake by providing vital social services, as well as life-enriching recreational and educational opportunities.)

Service will be Saturday, Feb. 24, 2024 2:00pm at Thomason Funeral Home, San Marcos. A reception will follow the memorial service at Black's Barbeque, 510 Hull St., San Marcos.
