Bobby Gene Miller 

February 18, 1933 - January 15, 2024 

Bobby Gene Miller peacefully entered Heaven on January 15, 2024. Bob was a true servant of the Lord who was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved, cared, and served those he loved with all his heart.

Bob was born on February 18, 1933, in Covington, Texas to Carl Albert Miller and Charlotte Elizabeth Long Miller. As the youngest of 5 children, Bob grew up with his family in a small three-bedroom farmhouse. Though they led a simple life, he grew up with experiences that instilled a strong work ethic that enabled him to accomplish many personal and professional achievements. He grew up loving the Lord, and no matter the weather or day, he was at the Church loving on others and serving God. His faith was what drove him to be the man he is known to be today.

When Bob was 12 years old, a certain girl caught his eye; Martha Ann Dickerson. Martha’s house was on his paper route and he would frequently notice her in the yard, or getting into the car. It was love at first sight, and he would often go home and tell his mom about the girl he was going to marry. Bob’s dream came true and they were married on January 24, 1953. This was the start of a beautiful life together, raising their 3 children. Bob unconditionally loved his wife. When she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease at the age of 48, he never left her side and committed his life to care for her until she went to be with the Lord at age 60. He truly devoted himself. He learned to apply her makeup just the way she liked it, dress her in her favorite clothes, he took her to church every Sunday, and learned to cook her favorite meals. Leading by example, he showed Christ’s love in anything and everything that he did, and caring for his wife and family was no exception.

Bob graduated from Cleburne High School in 1951. Soon thereafter he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he served as an engine mechanic during the Korean War until 1955. Upon his honorable discharge, he began his academic career receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M in 1958. As his professional career began, Bob spent the next 19 years as an aeronautical engineer for General Dynamics, Brown Engineering, and LTV Aerospace Defense. He was involved in several space programs including the Saturn V Rocket and Space Shuttle. In 1974, Bob made a career change into the Industrial Manufacturing sector as an Executive VP of Central Industrial Supply (CIS), President of Royal Manufacturing, and President of Clemens Sheet Metal. He fully retired in 2003.

As a small boy, Bob gave his life to Christ. He had a profound faith that was evident in every thing he did. He made sure that everyone around him knew the joy and love of Jesus Christ. Upon his marriage to Martha, it was important that their family was a member of the local church. Early in his life, we was involved in various capacities at Field Street Baptist Church in Cleburne, TX. He then took his devotion to Huntsville, AL where he served at Highlands Baptist Church and was ordained as a deacon. In 1967, the family joined Fielder Road Baptist in Arlington, TX. The last 57 years Bob has served faithfully as a Deacon, Trustee, and Chairman of many Leadership Committees. However, being a Sunday School leader was his favorite calling. He loved his Church, and when Martha was sick, Bob made it a point to worship with her every week. You could count on seeing them at the Church every Sunday, no matter what life threw their way.

Family was Bob’s greatest joy, and he savored every moment with them. Engaging in discussions about the Lord and Scripture, he sought to impart wisdom, guidance, and a strong moral compass. His impact on their lives is immeasurable. Bob Miller left a legacy of love, humor, quirkiness, and Godly advice to his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He would always preface with “I’m just coaching…”.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Martha, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.A. Miller; sisters, Dorothy Currington (Oscar), Retha Stinson (Jim), Geraldine Stepp (W.F. “Dub”); and brother, Joseph “Sonny” Miller (Hazel).

He is survived by his children; Linda Ann Hambrick (Steve), Philip Carl Miller (Sharon), and Simmie Mirinda “Mindy” Oden (Gary); grandchildren Holly Lang (Steve), Simmie Myers (Ashton), Jon Bolding (Raina), Mark Bolding (Julie), Martha Miller, Rob “Bobby” Miller (Courtney), Taylor Fisher (Chris), Jesse Yeager (Tyler); great grandchildren, Aubrey Lang, Anna Lang, Beau Lang, Hensley Myers, Adalynn Myers, Olivia Bolding, Oliver Fisher, Ridge Bolding, William Bolding, Elijah Yeager, and Grayson Miller; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024, from 6-8 p.m. at Wade Funeral Home and Crematory, 4140 W. Pioneer Pkwy. Arlington, TX 76013. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Fielder Church Pioneer Campus, 2011 S Fielder Rd Arlington, TX. Bobby will be laid to rest in a graveside ceremony on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at 10 a.m. at Moore Memorial Gardens, 1219 N Davis Dr. Arlington, TX.
