Robert B. "Bob" Schwarz, Jr. 

February 18, 1932 - January 15, 2024 

Robert B. Schwarz, Jr. went to be with the Lord on January 15, 2024, at the age of 91. He was born in San Antonio, TX on February 18,1932, to Robert B. Schwarz, Sr. and Maudie Weller Schwarz, and had an older sister, Elouise. As a child, Robert learned the value of hard work by helping his dad at their gas station. He also worked hard in school and became the President of the Student Council at Brackenridge HS in San Antonio. This is where he met the love of his life, Marilyn Kramer, on a Student Council picnic at Landa Park in New Braunfels, TX. Their time spent on that first day at the Guadalupe river in New Braunfels became a much loved family tradition for several decades with their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. No one could float, canoe, paddleboard, or enjoy antics on the river better than Grandpa! They also loved traveling all over the world and spending time and traveling with friends and family. His love for the Lord, his family, friends, and his community was his heartbeat.

Over the years he was fully committed to serving and loving those around him and making a difference wherever he could. Robert attended Texas A&M University where he became a part of the Corps of Cadets and member of the award winning Fish Drill Team. While still at A&M, he married his loving wife, Marilyn, on December 27, 1952, and they loved each other well for over 71 years. When first married, they enjoyed running the Aggieland Inn on campus together until Robert graduated from A&M with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering in 1955. Upon his completion, Robert served as a Lt. in the US Air Force in England. Marilyn and their first child, Gary, joined him and enjoyed 2 yrs there. Since they were expecting their second child, Carol, they decided to move back to the US after Robert was discharged. They settled in Dallas and had their third child, Cindy, three years later. Robert worked in a family business, Goodson Manufacturing Co., as an Engineer and in sales. After the owner passed away, Robert ran Goodson Manufacturing for 18 months, until the company was sold. He worked for Pollock Paper Co and then Texas Industries (TXI) where he became head of Industrial Engineering.

In 1974, Robert decided to make a major shift in careers as he enjoyed working with people and wanted to have his own business. Robert grew his own State Farm Insurance Agency in Garland, Tx. He was elected to the Garland City Council, in 1998, where he served his community for 2 terms. Robert served faithfully at Zion, Peace, and Messiah Lutheran Churches. Robert loved volunteering in many ways at church, in his community and with his family. His goals were to be productive, share the gospel, and enjoy life!

Robert is lovingly survived by his wife Marilyn, and their children: Gary Schwarz and wife Janet, Carol McKendree and husband Bill, and Cindy Bailey and husband Tommy; their 11 grandchildren: Mark Schwarz and Lindsay, Daniel Schwarz and Karen, Amanda Smith and Taylor, Julianne Carroll and Ian, David Schwarz and Amy, Jason James and Sara, Ford James, Katie James, Thomas Bailey, Kramer Bailey and Camille, Clara Scott and Trevor; and 29 great grandchildren: Oliver, Aiden, Elliott, Lucy Schwarz, Caedmon, Isaac, Luke Schwarz, Lilly, Lula, Morris Smith, Tytus, Witten, Prim, Juniper, Laney Carroll, Jackson, Addie, Maggie, Asher, Gavin Schwarz, Jesse, Julian, Jasper James, Luca, Olivia James-Garcia, Carter, Guy, Cliff, and Conrad Bailey.

Family in heaven with him include his parents, Maudie and Robert Sr, sister Elouise Towers, and great granddaughter Emma Carroll.

Our family is very thankful for the wonderful staff and caregivers at the Courtyard of Christian Care Communities in Mesquite and previously at Arden Courts in Richardson who lovingly cared for our dad, alongside us, during these last years.
