Luke Morse '27 November 9, 2023 3:12 PM updated: November 9, 2023 3:25 PM

Luke Anthony Morse

May 6, 2004 - July 8, 2023

Luke Anthony Morse, 19, passed peacefully at home on July 8th, 2023, in San Antonio, Texas with his mom, dad, and Aunt Jean at his side.

As a first grader at Encino Park Elementary School, Luke was eager to join the Cub Scouts. Later he attended Tejeda Middle School, where he played basketball and football. He was a proud member of Troop 90 and earned the Eagle Scout rank 8 days before his 15th birthday. His Eagle Scout project was to replace four stone benches on the playground at Holy Trinity Catholic Church—a place he grew up swinging from the monkey bars. Still today, the benches provide rest for parents keeping a watchful eye on their children. In 2022, Luke graduated Summa Cum Laude from Johnson High School where he played football his freshman year and was President of the Chess Club his senior year.

Luke was a math whiz, he loved playing chess, playing video games, watching the Avenger and Star Wars movie series, going to the lake, and skiing or snowboarding. He loved to play with and be comforted by his dog, Coco. But, he spent most of his free time with his beloved girlfriend, Rain, her family, and his group of friends lovingly dubbed “the squad”.

Luke is survived by his parents, Robert and Shelia; his younger brother, Caden; his older sister, Rachel and her husband, John; his Grandmothers, Linda and Sue; his Godparents, Uncle Michael and Aunt Donna; his confirmation sponsor, Uncle Jeff and Aunt Susan; his other uncles and aunts, Doug and Belinda, Tom and Amanda, Barry and Janet, and Jean; and his cousins, Erin, Jack, Alex, Heather, Mackenzie, Noah, Clayton, Gavin, Jonathan, Grace, Katie, Cooper, Hank, Huck, and Hesston.

Luke anticipated attending Texas A&M University in August, where he was accepted to the College of Engineering and planned to study computer science. In 2021, during the first semester of his senior year in high school, Luke was diagnosed with Clear Cell Sarcoma, a rare and aggressive cancer of the soft tissue. He endured two surgeries, two rounds of radiation, and four treatment plans over the course of 20 months before succumbing to the disease in the arms of his mom & dad. Luke was an organ donor and wanted to do whatever he could to support a cure for Clear Cell Sarcoma. He would be delighted to know that his story inspires others to help find a cure for this disease. Luke’s perseverance, grit, and dedication has inspired many people. He is already missed greatly. Until we meet again, rest in peace sweet Luke.

A rosary & vigil for Luke will be held Wednesday, July 12, 2023 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 20523 Huebner Rd, San Antonio, TX 78258. A funeral mass will occur Thursday, July 13, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. A Graveside Service will take place for the burial of Luke's ashes on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at 10:30 AM at Highland Cemetery, 2201 NW Fort Sill Blvd, Lawton, OK 73507.
