Edison Rodrigo Palacio 
December 1, 1941 — December 24, 2022 

Edison Rodrigo Palacio, age 81, beloved husband, father, father-In-law, grandfather, and uncle passed away peacefully on December 24, 2022, in McAllen, Texas. Born in Zaruma, Ecuador, he came to the United States as a young teenager where he graduated from Rio Grande City High School in 1961.

He attended Texas A&M University and enlisted in the United States Army. He served in the Vietnam War as part of the 1st Air Calvary Division. After being honorably discharged, he returned home to manage a family business, Roma Auto Parts, Inc. He grew the business to include Rio Auto Parts and Lake Auto Parts. Rodrigo enjoyed teaching and watching his daughters play soccer, fishing and hunting. Above all he believed that education was the key to his family’s success. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Organization, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), and Order of the Alhambra.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years Maria del Carmen (Monie) Gonzalez Palacio, his children Yvette Ortega and her husband John Michael, Monique Villarreal and her husband Joel, and Mirella Palacio, as well as three grandchildren, Samuel Eliseo Sanchez, Nikolas Andres Sanchez and Joel Diego Villarreal. He was a dear uncle to Graziella Arredondo, Eduardo Arredondo (Diane), and Alberto Arredondo (Emma) plus a beloved family member to his sister-in-law Graciela Arredondo and her husband Dr. Eradio Arredondo plus many family members across the United States and South America. He was preceded in death by his parents, Julio Cesar Palacio and Mercedes Espinoza and brothers and sisters.

The family would like to thank the staff, administration and residents of the Alfredo Gonzalez Texas State Veterans Home, South Texas Health System and Comfort House for their kindness and care.

Funeral arrangements are as follows, a visitation at Sanchez Funeral home on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at 9:00 AM, a Rosary at 10:30 AM. A Mass in Our Lady of Refuge of Roma, Texas at 1:00 PM following the interment at Roma Cemetery.
