Daryl Paige Baker

March 10, 1970 - June 8, 2023

Daryl Paige Baker, 53, of Round Rock, Texas, passed from this life to the next at her home on June 8th, 2023.

Paige was born on March 10, 1970, in Austin, Texas to Darrel and Linda Baker. Paige graduated from Westwood High School in 1988 and went on to study Education at her beloved Texas A&M University. After graduating with a degree in Education in 1992, Paige returned to Austin to begin her teaching career. She spent her entire 29 year career at Barrington Elementary before retiring in 2022. She dedicated her life to educating young people and, as her career progressed, mentoring the young teachers around her. Even though she had returned to Austin, her love for Texas A&M never wavered and she took every opportunity to represent her alma mater at school, even on the days after A&M was “outscored.” After her retirement, she continued to share her love of education through substitute teaching, often at Barrington Elementary.

Paige’s favorite thing to do was spend time with the people she loved. She often met up with friends or family for long lunches and conversation and was always happy to gather some folks for margaritas at Chuy’s. She comes from a large and loving family and spent many hours surrounded by aunts, uncles and cousins as they came together to celebrate, whether it was Easter, Christmas and even our own special holiday “Bakerfest.” Paige was very often the center of the conversation and could be counted on for a sassy comment or a funny story. She loved spending time with her nephews Reese and Jackson and would take them to the Baker home in Colorado every summer for a long visit with her and their grandparents. While we are saddened to lose Paige so suddenly, we are comforted by so many happy memories of our times with her. Her bright smile and infectious laughter will be missed.

Paige’s other great love in life was animals. From her first childhood pet, a cocker spaniel named Cher, to her iguana which she lovingly named Precious, to her current fur babies, Greta, India, Morgan, Virgil and Willow. Interestingly, she got Greta from the Homes for Animal Heroes organization because she was retired from being involved in medical research at Texas A&M. Paige found great satisfaction in rescuing this precious Aggie pup and giving her a well-deserved and loving home. She also enjoyed volunteering at the animal shelter, although she found it difficult not to take them all home with her when she left.

Paige is survived by her parents, Darrel and Linda Baker of Iola, Texas, sister Melanie Martin and her husband Raymond of College Station, Texas, and her nephews Reese Martin of College Station, Texas, and Jackson Martin of Denton, Texas. Paige is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other family members and friends that she treasured throughout her life.

A memorial visitation for Paige will be held Friday, June 16, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home, 2900 Williams Drive, Georgetown, TX 78628.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Paige's memory may be made to Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter, 1855 SE Inner Loop, Georgetown, Texas 78626, https://pets.wilco.org/How-to-Help/Donations
