Robert Charles Leitz, III

October 28, 1944 - January 29, 2023

Dr. Robert C. Leitz, III was born in New Orleans, La. on October 28, 1944, to Mildred Kurz Leitz and Robert C. Leitz, Jr. He died peacefully on January 29, 2023 after a courageous journey with Parkinson's Disease.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years, Ann, and a host of relatives, colleagues, and friends.

Dr. Leitz earned his academic credentials from the University of New Orleans and Texas A&M University. He served LSUS for over 40 years where he was the holder of the Ruth Herring Noel Endowed Chair for the Curatorship of the James Smith Noel Collection. Additionally, he was the President of the Noel Foundation for more than 20 years.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the James Smith Noel Library on the LSUS campus on Friday, February 10, 2023 at 4:00PM. Memorial tributes may be given to the LSUS Foundation, One University Place, Shreveport, La. 71115
