Margaret "Meg" Taylor Vick

August 27, 1957 - June 15, 2022

Margaret “Meg” Jeanne Taylor Vick, age 64 of San Angelo, passed after battling a lengthy illness since 2002 with Multiple Sclerosis on Wednesday, June 15, 2022.

Meg was born August 27, 1957, in San Angelo, Texas to Jack Boss and Jeanne (Luby) Taylor. She graduated from San Angelo Central in 1975. She received her degree in Elementary Education from Texas A&M University, member of Phi Mu and receiving her Journalism degree from Angelo State University.

Meg worked as Network Director for Midland Memorial Hospital, Midland, Texas until her retirement in 2011. She loved her job working close with the hospital management, doctors, their offices, helping patients especially when it came to negotiating with those damn insurance companies and was a strong opponent against Medicare fraud. When diagnosed with her disease Meg’s words were “oh hell, not only does MS stand for Multiple Sclerosis but also “More S***” and wishes all patients and their families nothing but the best when dealing with illnesses in their own way. Meg served as a lobbyist for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society during past legislative sessions in Austin, was a member of the United Daughters Of The Confederacy and proud of her heritage and faith.

She enjoyed living life to the fullest of cooking, reading, dancing, hunting, fishing, playing pool and of course having a cold beer with family and friends. People that knew Meg loved her, appreciated her wit, caring, loyalty, sense of humor, laughter and how she never met a stranger. When she became your friend she was your friend for life, her word was her bond and could be counted on.

Meg was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church in San Angelo, married her husband Mike Vick in San Angelo on July 28, 1999 which was fun and entertaining. She was preceded in death by her parents, father in law H.W. Vick, mother in law Yvonna Vick McComb and brother in law Jim Vick.

Survivors include two brothers, Dick Chafey, Tom Taylor and one sister Jone Paschal. Additionally, several aunts, uncles, sisters and brothers in law, cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Many thanks go out to Hospice of San Angelo, Shannon staff, Bronte Rehab/Health Center, family members, friends and everyone who ever offered her a hand when she needed it. Happy thoughts and memories will be appreciated in lieu of memorials. Meg’s wish was to be cremated, no memorial or graveside service and her ashes buried at the Lee Family Cemetery five miles south of Aspermont, Texas in Stonewall County. “Meggie, it’s only good bye for now and not good bye forever. We love you, we will miss you and may you rest in peace dear.”

Arrangements are by Shaffer Funeral Home. Meg’s obituary and memorial guest book may be viewed online at www. shafferpioneer.com
