He was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on May 25, 1931, to Harold & Elizabeth Workman. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He lived an accomplished life and has been an inspiration to all. From his many stories to being a jokester, he always enjoyed himself. He will be dearly missed.

Stanley Workman moved from Iowa to Texas with his family, as a child, in 1937. He grew up in San Antonio and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1948. He decided to join the workforce after high school, and his first job was at the Vaughn Sash and Door Company. Then in 1950, he started working as an office boy for the United Gas Pipeline Company. While working, he met his future wife, Billie Jean. They were later married in 1953 and began a new chapter of life together. He continued to work for the pipeline company until 1957.

Stanley was fortunate to meet a veterinarian who inspired him to go to vet school. He enrolled at Texas A&M University shortly after that. He worked immensely hard and graduated with his degree in veterinary medicine in 1962. During his time at Texas A&M, he started his family and had two sons with his wife.

After he graduated, he moved back to San Antonio with his family and started a veterinarian clinic. He was very involved in his two sons’ love of baseball. He contributed many years of service to the Alamo Heights Pony League Baseball community. In his free time, Stanley loved to bowl and met some of his greatest friends doing so. He bowled for the majority of his life and competed in several bowling tournaments across the USA. In 2002, He was inducted into the Greater San Antonio USBC Association Hall of Fame. He continued to work in veterinary medicine from 1965 until 2008 when he retired. After his retirement, he traveled to a multitude of places around the world and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
