June 26, 1942 - July 31, 2022

Rebecca Susan Tisdale Love Welday, 80, of Pearcy, Arkansas, passed away on July 31, 2022, near Bismarck, Arkansas.

She is preceded in death by her mother Susie George Blair, her father Cecil Blair, her sister Jane Blair Couvillon, her husband of 32 years, Garry Tisdale, her husband James Love, her son-in-law Thomas Pitchford, and her great granddaughter, Lyneah Brown.

Becky was born in Alexandria, Louisiana, on June 26, 1942, and lived there most of her life. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from Texas A &M being among the first group of women to attend there.

She came back to Alexandria and began teaching at Brame Junior High and later taught at Alexandria Senior High and Peabody Magnet High, teaching history, journalism, and French. She mentored and inspired countless students throughout her decades of teaching in Alexandria and became friends with many long after the bell rang.

Becky was a loving, gregarious soul who enjoyed gardening, rescuing animals, community theater, travel, and every person she met.

She is survived by her husband Carl Welday, her daughter Heather Tisdale, her brother J. Richard “Nippy” Blair (Frances), niece Julie Berrier (Chris), nephews Jeff Couvillon (Anissa) Kenny Blair (Becky), and Marty Blair (Kristi) great nieces and nephews, her granddaughter Monjae Henery, and two great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Alexandria, Louisiana, on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. Chris Thacker officiating and under the direction of John Kramer & Son Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. Please wear something bright and colorful to the funeral to reflect Becky's vivacious nature.
