Leonard Hartford Tunnell, Jr.

1947 - October 8, 2022

Leonard Hartford Tunnell Jr, of Carthage, MO passed away on October 8th, 2022 after a sudden illness.

Hartford, as he was known to friends and family, was born in Miami, OK in 1947 to Leonard Hartford Tunnell Sr. and Georgia Marie (Holmes) Tunnell. He graduated from Miami High School in 1965, then from Northeast Oklahoma College in 1967, after which he continued his education at Texas A&M University in College Station, TX, where he graduated in 1969. Though he left that school upon graduation, he carried Aggie fever in his blood for the rest of his life, ardently supporting both the school and its teams.

Upon graduation, Hartford started his teaching career in San Antonio, TX before beginning his tenure at Missouri Southern State College in 1985, where he taught Computer Science until his retirement in 2018, after which he was able to pursue his passions of hunting, fishing and riding his motorcycle.

Hartford was preceded in death by his father Leonard and his mother Georgia, as well as his brothers Brian and Zachary and his first wife, Carolyn.

He is survived by third wife, Lorge. He is also survived by his daughter Brianna and her husband Nick, and his three sons, Aaron and wife Brandy, Brock, and Benji and wife Donna. He leaves behind 4 brothers, Kent, Doug, Greg and Danny, as well as their spouses. Missing their papa will be granddaughters Mirabelle, Hailey, Reagan and Constance, and grandsons Liam and Silas.
