Roll Call Tribute

Paul Phillips '61 December 15, 2022 3:31 PM updated: December 15, 2022 3:35 PM

Paul Jenkins Phillips
June 18, 1939 - November 5, 2022

Paul Jenkins Phillips was born on June 18, 1939, in Hughes Springs, Texas to parents William Hubbard "Hub" Phillips and Beulah Ohal Phillips. He went home to our Lord at age 83 on Saturday November 5th, 2022, in Boerne, Texas.

Paul graduated from Conroe High School in 1957 and subsequently attended Texas A&M University, graduating in 1961 and again in 1967 with a Master of Computer Science. He was the Outstanding Cadet his sophomore year in the Corps and was also a member of the Ross Volunteers. Paul began his career at NASA, then was later hired by IBM where he had a successful career for 30 years.

Paul was a people person. He was a great listener and loved meaningful and thought-provoking conversations. His joys were working on his farm and being with his family. He was a lifelong learner. Those who knew him well fondly remember conversations with Paul on the porch, which sometimes took a while to complete, but always had a poignant lesson to be gleaned. His thoughtfulness, wisdom, and positive outlook are things we will all dearly miss in his absence. Paul's servant heart will be missed by all, but especially by those in the Boerne community that he served, like the Hill Country Pregnancy Care Center.

Paul is survived by his wife, Lynda Phillips, sister, Rosemary Phillips Denk, sons, Paul Jason and Paul Jeffrey Phillips, their spouses Susan and Jessica Phillips, grandchildren, Ellie Phillips, Cody Phillips, Levi Phillips, and Rainey Phillips, and a multitude of other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Hubbard Phillips, mother, Beulah Ohal Phillips, and brothers, James Phillips and Don Phillips.

Paul's wishes were not for a traditional funeral, but to have a celebration of his life at a time wherein all his friends and family could attend. Details for a celebration in Boerne will be forthcoming and the event will likely take place in early 2023.
