Roll Call Tribute

Andrew Funk '91 November 29, 2022 3:51 PM updated: November 29, 2022 3:56 PM

Andrew Laurence Funk
August 3, 1967 – November 20, 2022

Andrew Laurence Funk, family man, entrepreneur, devoted husband, Aggie, duck hunter, and conversationalist, passed away unexpectedly November 20, 2022.

Andrew was born on August 3, 1967, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and moved to Nederland, Texas soon after. He graduated from Nederland High School in 1986 and earned his degree in Political Science with a minor in History from Texas A&M University in 1991.

Son of the late John Laurence Funk, Jr. and the late Betty Moncrief Funk, Andrew is survived by his wife of 22 years Krysten Marie (Garkovich) Funk, daughter Mary Frances, son John Laurence (JL), sister Angela Funk Kackley, and numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Ever the self-starter, Andrew founded and still ran Inquest Staffing, a Houston specialty staffing firm, for the last 20 plus years.

Andrew’s passions were wooing the love of his life, Krysten, and doting on Mary Frances and JL. He was an extremely proud husband and father, involved in all the kids’ sports.

He loved entertaining Krysten alone or a whole houseful with a well thought out menu, beverages of all flavors, and stimulating conversation. He didn’t have to agree with you for there to be hours of drilling down on a multitude of topics. Andrew was a brilliant storyteller. Friends, family, and new acquaintances alike could always rely on Andrew debating thoughtful topics, asking questions, offering sound advice, and having deep and meaningful conversations.

He was genuine, friendly, full of life and laughter. He will be missed beyond measure.

We are profoundly sad he is gone and yet we rejoice in knowing he is basking in the glory of Jesus his Savior.

A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, November 30, 2022, 2:00 PM, at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, 717 Sage Road, Houston, Texas 77056, followed immediately by a reception.

Please know that the church does not accept flowers. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, Give in Memory program.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.earthmanbellaire.com for the Funk family.
