James Alvin Pohl

January 26, 1934 - July 18, 2022

James Alvin Pohl, 88, of Ezzell, passed away July 18, 2022.  He was born on January 26, 1934, to Henry J. & Ida May Bell Pohl, in the Sommer's Thicket near Ezzell in southeast Lavaca County, TX. He married Frances Powell on August 21, 1960 in Pecos, TX. He graduated from TAMU in 1956 with a B.S. in Agricultural Engineering, served in the US Army Reserve for 6 years, and worked for the USDA Soil Conservation Service for 34 years (Pecos, Sioux Falls SD, Greenville, Denton and Rosenberg).  He was a longtime member of the Salem Cemetery Association Board and associate member of Republican Women of Yoakum Area.

James is survived by:  his wife Frances of 61 years; his children, James (Sharla), David (Martha), Mary Frances (Kurt) and Ruth Ann; 7 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Henry and Jesse; 2 sisters, Ellen and Mary; and numerous nieces & nephews.

James was preceded in death by, his parents and sister Annie Ruth Pohl Wagner.

Funeral Service: 10 am, Friday, July 22, 2022, at Kubena Funeral Home of Hallettsville.  Visitation: 4 pm, Thursday, at Kubena Funeral Home.  Pallbearers:  Jace Regenbrecht, Wyatt Regenbrecht, Karl Pohl, Brian McKalip, Aaron Pohl and Zachary Webb.  Honorary Pallbearer:  Morgan Hudson, Stephen Wagner, David Wagner, Brent Rachke, Jason Raschke, Mark Pohl and Matthew Pohl.   Officiant: Chester St. Clair.  Memorials: Salem Cemetery Association, Hospice of South Texas or Donor’s Choice.  Burial:  Salem Cemetery.
