Wayland Wayne Brune
October 20, 1961 - October 19, 2022

Wayland “Wayne” Brune, age 60, passed away peacefully in Houston, Texas, on Wednesday, October 19, 2022. He was born in San Antonio, Texas, on October 20, 1961, the son of Patrick and Barbara Brune. He is preceded in death by his parents. Wayne is survived by his wife of 33 years, Barbara, and daughter, Sarah; sister, Shannon, and her husband, Jason Finger; nephew, Cody Finger; niece, Alyssa Finger, along with extended family.

Wayne attended Robert E. Lee High School in Houston, Texas, graduating in 1980. He attended Texas A&M University where he received a Bachelor’s of Business Administration, with a specialization in Accounting, in 1984. While at Texas A&M, Wayne was a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity. After graduation, his career included working in accounting for several years before becoming a real estate appraiser in 1991. In 1996, Wayne began a 26-year career with Tex-Trude, first in sales, then in 2009, he obtained the position of Custom Plant Manager and in 2018, became the PVC Plant Manager. He was respected by many of his co-workers for his knowledge and leadership.

Wayne and Barbara initially met at San Felipe National Bank during the summer of 1982. They enjoyed working in the same department at the bank, where their friendship blossomed, and Wayne and Barbara started dating in 1984. They were married on July 8, 1989. Throughout their marriage, they enjoyed traveling, attending A&M football games and family gatherings. Wayne and Barbara were blessed with the addition of their daughter, Sarah, on Oct. 17, 2002. Throughout the years they created lots of special memories but one of their favorite times with Sarah was going to Disney World in 2008.

Wayne enjoyed sports his entire life! It all started with playing F.U.N. football at the age of 6, followed by playing baseball with Voss West Little League at an early age. The strong bond between Wayne and his dad started there and only grew as his dad, Pat, was often found in the dugout or on the sidelines as his coach! It was truly a special time for them! Always wanting to do the best he could, Wayne and his Dad could be found in the kitchen after many a game analyzing every play! Wayne continued playing sports during his teen years, excelling at several positions and was an “All Star” on the baseball field for VWLL and then Lee High School, along with playing as a star safety on the Lee Generals football team. During his senior year, he set a record with 7 interceptions! Wayne also enjoyed hunting and golf over the years, but most especially Aggie football.

Again, like his Dad, he was a “jack-of-all-trades” handyman. He could fix most anything and learned how to do that early and often, being his Dad’s assistant while tackling many a project at the Brune house! He also enjoyed cooking, barbecuing and getting together with friends. Throughout his sports days and his time at Texas A&M, Wayne cultivated many life-long friendships, especially with his KA buddies at A&M. Wayne’s smile and infectious laugh would light up the room and his devilish sense of humor would make anyone laugh! Wayne will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2022, at 2:00pm at River Pointe Church, 7057 Knights Court, Missouri City, Texas, 77459.
