January 31, 1933 – July 11, 2022

Jerry Don Moseley, age 89, of Orinda, California passed away on Monday, July 11, 2022. Jerry was born January 31, 1933.

Jerry was born in Eastland, Texas on January 31,1933 to Claude Benjamin and Ruby Lee (Calvert) Moseley. He graduated from Texas A&M in 1954 with a bachelor’s degree in Dairy Manufacturing. He joined the Air Force during the Korean War and became a nuclear operations officer. After leaving the service he earned his PhD in Physical Chemistry from the University of Colorado, Boulder.

He began his career with Dow Chemical Company in Rocky Flats, Colorado where Dow was managing the Atomic Energy Commission’s nuclear weapons plant. In the 1970’s Jerry transferred to Pittsburg, CA when Dow was undergoing a large expansion. He had different assignments and projects in the Western Division including Lab Director for Central Research in Walnut Creek. His last assignment with Dow was as a technical expert in Washington DC for several government projects and legislation.

Following retirement, Jerry stayed very busy in his church and served as an elder for many years at Walnut Creek Church of Christ. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. He even continued to work with several engineering firms as a consultant for environmental and water processing projects. Somehow, he also found time to teach upper-level courses through the University of Phoenix.

Jerry is survived by his wife Anne of Orinda, CA., and his son Van and wife, Kim of Springfield, OR. Six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 44 years Virginia and their son Greg.

Jerry touched many hearts and will be missed by all.

A memorial service will be held August 27, 1 PM at the Martinez Church of Christ, Martinez, CA.
