O Lord, make me know my end and what is the measure of my days; let me know how fleeting I am! Its with profound sympathy and sadness the Staff of Miller Funeral Services and Crematory announce the passing of Mr. Leopold Blum Babin.

Leopold Blum Babin, 78, resident of Selma, AL was born on May 24, 1944, and passed away on July 2, 2022. Mr. Babin received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Education at Texas A&M University in 1966, his Master’s in business administration degree at Loyola University in New Orleans, LA in 1967, and Juris Doctor Degree at Loyola University Law School in New Orleans, LA in 1973.

Throughout the years, Mr. Babin worked as Partner at Wimbish & Babin Attorneys at Law in Houma, LA; as Senior Partner at Babin & Scheuermann Attorneys at Law in Houma, LA.; and as an Attorney at the Law Offices of Leopold Babin in Marietta GA, Houma LA and Selma, AL, where he retired.

Leopold Babin was a member of several Bar Associations, including the Alabama, Louisiana, Georgia, Texas State Bar of Associations, United States Supreme Court, 5th U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeals, Northern and Middle U.S. District Courts of Georgia, Eastern and Western U.S. District Courts of Louisiana.

Mr. Babin joined the United States Army where he served as 1st Lt. Adjutant General Corps. He was also a FAA Certified Airline Transport Pilot, FFA Certified Flight Instructor and a Licensed Real Estate Broker in several states.

He was a part of several professional and civic organizations including former Chairman of LA Southeast Chapter of American Red Cross; former part owner and chef of a restaurant Grand Bahama Island; former member of International Business Development Committee in Grand Bahama Island; former Louisiana Trade Delegate to Bahamas; former Louisiana Delegate to the Caribbean Basin Conference; Board member of Amalep, Inc; and owner of Marlep & Lep, LLC.

Alongside his many honors and distinctions, Mr. Babin was a published Author of legal and cookbooks; Master Certified Flight Instructor of national Association of Flight Instructors; Louisiana State Redfish Champion; Life member of Mensa; Martindale – Hubbell’s very high rating – BV Distinguished; Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society, 32 Mason/Shriner, Distinguished Student & Military Graduate of Texas A&M University; U.S. Supreme Court Case; Certified to the Federal Register of Federal Administrative Law Judge Candidate, former City Judge, Pro Tem of Houma, LA; and former Acting Municipal Judge of Selma, AL.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Mary Babin; son, William Robert (Kaitlin) Babin; daughter, Catherine Holden (Michael) Eubanks; 2 stepdaughters, Allissa Stephens and Michelle Gallagher; brother, Logan (Anne)Henry, Jr. and 3 grandchildren.

Memorial Services will be held Sunday, July 17, 2022 at 2:00PM at Miller Funeral Home Chapel, Selma, AL. In leu of flowers, please make donations to Temple Mishkan Israel, 503 Broad St., Selma, AL.
