John "J.R." Robert Richardson
July 12, 1946 – May 24, 2022

John “J.R.” Robert Richardson, age 75, passed away on May 24, 2022. His larger than life character will live on in each and every one of us.

John graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelors and Masters of Science in Civil Engineering. While at A&M, he was in the Corps of Cadets Company E2. “J.R.” was later commissioned into the Army Corp of Engineers as a Second Lieutenant, serving 10 years in the Army Reserves before receiving an Honorable Discharge as a Captain.

John retired from Fluor Corporation as an Executive Project Director. He joined Fluor Corporation in 1972 serving the company for 45 Years. John known as “J.R.”, worked all over the world on refinery and petrochemical plants in: Canada, Europe, Chile, Australia, Ireland, South Africa, Saudi Arabia and more. His resume included some of the most challenging jobs undertaken by the company. He executed projects to build, to revamp, and to repair facilities from fires, earthquakes, and floods. He was well known for getting the job done. If Fluor had a tough job, “J.R.” was the man.

He was not only known for his hard work ethic, but for his fanatical enthusiasm for Texas A&M University. John’s passion for education has touched the lives of hundreds of students with his generous endowment of more than ten TAMU scholarships, to help educate students in need. The scholarships were awarded to students in the Department of Construction Science, the Corps of Cadets, the School of Chemical Engineering, and the School of Business. He was a lifetime member of the Construction Science Industry Advisory Council and was inducted into the Construction Science Department’s Hall of Fame in 2016 for his achievements in his career and for his support of the department.

In retirement John enjoyed life traveling the world, attending A&M football games, fishing, cruising, and his favorite hunting with his family and friends. John was a cowboy at heart. His greatest passion was spending time supporting his grandchildren in their various endeavors and passions.

John had a passion for everything in life and held a special place in his heart for the love of his family. John is preceded in death by his parents, Mabel S. Richardson and Robert B. Richardson. He leaves behind his wife, Diana Morin-Richardson; three children, John “Bo” Robert Richardson, Jr., Pamela King and her husband James King, and Carlos J. Morin; four grandchildren, Payton King, Reagan King, Samantha Richardson and John “Bobby” Robert Richardson, III.; brothers, Eugene Richardson and David Richardson. He is loved by his family and will forever be a hero to each and every one of us.

Friends are invited to a visitation with the family from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, in the chapel at Earthman Southwest Funeral Home, 12555 S. Kirkwood Road in Stafford.

A Celebration of John’s Life will immediately follow the visitation, also in the chapel at Earthman Southwest Funeral Home; immediately following, all are invited to gather with the family and share remembrances of John during a reception in the event room.
