August 2, 1954 - May 22, 2022

Thomaston, Maine - Daniel R. Allen, 67, passed unexpectedly in his sleep Sunday morning, May 22, 2022.

Born in Dallas, Texas, August 2, 1954, he was the son of Mary Elizabeth (Lane) and Jonathan H. Allen, I.

He grew up in Lancaster, Texas with his parents and 7 siblings. After attending Hutchins Elementary School and graduating from Lancaster High School, he enrolled in Texas A&M and was part of the Corps of Cadets. He graduated with a degree in Landscape Design and was recognized by his professors for having the most innovative designs.

Daniel worked as a Landscape Architect up until his death. He was recognized for his beautiful designs in Midcoast Maine by Home and Gardens and many other prominent members of society.

Daniel took great joy in carving, painting and gardening. In recent years he perfected the art of carving birds. He also was passionate about politics.

Above all, he loved his wife, children and grandchildren. He had an intense love for nature and it's Creator. All his creative gifts, he attributed to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He had an in-depth knowledge of scripture and was often found singing hymns and talking about deep theological concepts with his family.

Predeceased by his mother and father, Daniel is survived by his spouse Ann M. Harris Allen; his sons Jacob R. Allen, Zechariah C. Allen (Hannah); his daughter, Rachael E. Ehle (Stephen); two grandchildren, Annelise E. Ehle and Samuel C. Allen; his siblings, Jonathan A. Allen, II (Cindy), Thomas Allen (Dianne), Stephen Allen (Kim), Miriam Homoleski (Brian), Ruth Sharp (Dr. James), Mary Esther Horton (Dr. Marshall), Priscilla Archibald, (Gary); many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Visiting hours will be held from 5:00 to 7:00pm, Tuesday May 31, 2022, at Burpee Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St, Rockland, ME.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00am, June 1st, at The Advent Christian Church of Friendship, 10 Cushing Rd, Friendship ME. For those unable to attend in person, a live-stream of Daniel’s service will be available on his book of memories at www.bchfh.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Creation Evidence Museum, P.O. Box 309, Glenrose, TX.
