Jan Baker Dabney
May 6, 1952 - May 5, 2022

Please join the family for a Celebration of Life gathering in honor of Jan Baker Dabney on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church in Livingston, Texas.

Jan Baker Dabney died on May 5th of complications following a heart attack. A native Houstonian, Jan grew up in Meyerland area, attending Lovett Elementary, Johnston Middle, and Bellaire High School. A member of the BHS graduating class of 1970, Jan was a captain of the Bellaire Belles, the high school dance team. She went on to study accounting at Texas A&M University as a member of the Class of 1974 and Delta Gamma sorority. Jan was an avid lifelong Aggie fan in a mixed marriage with Joe, a Longhorn.

Jan became a Certified Public Accountant and worked for nearly fifty years as a CPA, first for White, Petrov & McHone. In 1994, Jan became the Chief Financial Officer of Dabney Investment Consulting, Inc.

Jan and Joe married in 1978 and lived together in Houston and the Clear Lake area and enjoyed boating in Galveston Bay. In 2008, they bought their first bus. They spent 15 years on the road together, traveling across the U.S. and Canada – from Livingston, TX to Alaska and everywhere in between – visiting friends and clients alike, attending conferences, chasing autumn colors, and escaping the Texas heat.

Jan’s love language was taking care of people, especially her family. As the eldest daughter in the family, she took her role seriously; she was quick to offer support to anyone in need and spent many hours at family members’ hospital bedsides.

Jan is survived by husband, Joseph T. Dabney III of Livingston; sister, Jill Baker Taylor & her husband, Leonard of Cornelius, NC; brother, Robert A. (Bob) Baker & his wife, Crystal of Houston; brother-in-law, Michael (Mike) P. Dabney & his wife, Susan of Livingston; nieces and nephews, Ashley Taylor Miller & her husband, Chris and their children, Nettie & JT Miller of Weddington, NC, Elizabeth Baker & her husband, Patrick Smith of Brooklyn, NY, Hollis Barrow Taylor of Greeneville, SC, Christopher Breese Baker of Houston, Alice Dabney Butler & her husband, Ken and their children, Millie Bea & Sadie Sue Butler of Livingston, and Paul Dabney of Austin. Jan is preceded in death by her mother, Patty LaRue Baker, and father, Lawrence Breese Baker, Jr.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to Planned Parenthood or the charity of your choice.
