Frank Rogers Yakel
February 21, 1932 - March 30, 2022

Frank Rogers Yakel of Cedar Hill, Texas recently passed away on March 30, 2022. Rogers was born February 21, 1932 to Gretchan and Frank Yakel in Marshall, Texas. He played football for Marshall High School, which is where he met and married his high school sweetheart Barbara Yakel, mother to their two children, Ryan Yakel and Jan Cline.

After graduating from his beloved Texas A&M University, Rogers served in the Army Artillery Reserves throughout the 1950s and 1960s rising to the rank of Captain. Rogers and Barbara enjoyed painting together and playing bridge with friends. Rogers channeled his lifelong love of airplanes in his career as an aeronautical engineer for over 35 years with LTV in Grand Prairie, Texas.

He enjoyed travel, especially flying in planes that he worked on during his career in aviation. His second wife Jill joined him in their travels throughout the globe. Rogers enjoyed the challenge of puzzles, typically solving them in record time. Above all, Rogers was a tried-and-true Aggie who celebrated his alma mater to his last days. He was always A&Ms biggest fan and made sure everyone he met was greeted by an enthusiastic “Howdy” and a firm handshake Gig em’!

Rogers was preceded in death by Jill Yakel and his parents, Gretchen and Frank Yakel. He is survived by twin sisters, Laura Holt and Loucille Morton; son, Ryan Yakel and wife Janet; daughter, Jan Cline and her two children, Brooke Cline and Emily Cline; Jill’s daughter, Laura Swofford and husband Joey and their children and grandchildren.
