Larry Lynn Oakes

Larry Lynn Oakes, of Castroville, passed away on January 1, 2022 at the age of 80. He was born March 24, 1941 in Cooper, Texas to Chester D. Oakes and Esther Pauline Young Oakes.

In 1959, Larry graduated from Paris High School. After high school, he served in the United States Air Force. Larry earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Texas A&M in 1969. For three years, he worked for Texas Instruments before working Civil Service for the United States Air Force Communications Center.

Survivors include his wife, Patti Jo Oakes of Castroville; daughter, Mandi Chavez of San Antonio; grandchildren, Andrew DeLeon, Alex DeLeon, and Julian DeLeon; siblings, Karen Floyd (Gary) of Paris, Texas, Donna Sampler (Larry) of Carrollton, Texas.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Esther Oakes; and his brothers, Mickey Harold Oakes, Winford "Sonny" Oakes, and Boyce "Bob" Oakes.
