Wilburn Joseph Loflin
February 3, 1954 – December 18, 2021

Wilburn Joseph Loflin was born on February 3, 1954 and passed away December 18, 2021 at home, surrounded by family and love.

Joe was born in Merkel, Texas the fifth child of Wilburn Monroe Loflin and Wilma Dee Warren. He graduated in 1972 from Anson High School and went on to attend Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. He graduated with a degree in Microbiology. He earned his master’s degree in Industrial Hygiene at Texas A&M University in 1978. After working for OSHA, Ethicon and Law Engineering and becoming a Certified Industrial Hygienist he decided to venture out on his own and started Loflin Environmental Services, an environmental consulting firm in 1987 with his business partner, James Murray.

Joe met the love of his life, Cathy Hughes while attending Southwest Texas. They married on New Year’s Eve 1977 and started their journey together. They were blessed with two daughters Carissa Lee and Lindsey Jo.

Joe was a proud TASO (Texas Association of Sports Officials) member for 26 years. He loved officiating high school football on Friday nights, watching the Aggies on Saturday and the Texans on Sunday.

He was preceded in death by his parents Wilburn and Wilma, sisters Linda McDonald and Lola Lindsey.

Joe is survived by his wife of 44 years, Cathy, daughter Carissa Spraberry and husband Lonnie, daughter Lindsey, brother David and his wife Mary, sister Laurell Barnes and nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.

The family wishes to send special thanks to the medical staff in the Interventional Radiology department led by Dr. Fang, and the ICU team at St Luke’s the Woodlands for their care and compassion.

Our heartfelt thanks to the many friends and family who have surrounded him in prayer.

If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations in Joe’s name can be made to the Coldspring food pantry where Joe & Cathy volunteered at caresharefoodpantry.org, or Houston TASO – Joe Loflin scholarship fund.
