Travis Wyatt Harrel
December 24, 1988 - November 22, 2021

Travis Wyatt Harrel of Houston, Texas was taken from this life far to early on November 22, 2021. In his all too short 32 years, Travis lived a very colorful and full life, challenging others to do the same.

Travis was born on Christmas Eve, 1988 in Alice, Texas. A strapping 7lbs 15oz! He was welcomed home by his adoring sister Whitney, who held him in her lap on a pillow for hours at a time. Whitney often climbed into his crib and would sit just watching him while he slept. Travis graduated Orange Grove High School in 2007 where he was an All State Nose Guard for the varsity football team, pole vaulted, and was the anchor leg for the Mile Relay Team.

Travis was a proud member of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of 2011. During his time at Texas A&M University he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Economics, with a minor in Business, and was a member of Delta Chi Fraternity. Travis’ fraternity brotherhood described him as their superhero, a true testament to Travis’ positive impact on everyone he encountered.

After graduation, Travis worked in the oil and gas field and with his entrepreneurial and sales skills he built a successful business in the industry. He authored over 15 patents in the Oil and Gas field.

Travis was an avid Aggie football fan, loved hunting, fishing, water sports, and traveling. Travis knew no stranger and could bring just about anybody together. In short he was the life of the party. He loved those 4 legged girls, Rellie, and Sadie, with everything he had.

Travis’s contagious smile, brilliant mind, adventurous spirit, and generosity was evident to all. He exhibited a fierce loyalty to those he loved, especially his mother, Barbara, who he called his rock, as well as his sister Whitney whose drive and wanderlust was his inspiration. She was also the only person he ever feared. For the first few years of his life, he never allowed Whitney, his cherished, protective older sister out of his sight.

Travis was a man of his word and challenged others to be true to their desires. Appreciated and enjoyed by all. He will be missed. He leaves behind his loving mother Barbara Sheeler (John Grunwald), father Terry Harrel (Cathy), his older sister Whitney Harrel, his maternal Grandmother Ida Mae Gafford Ball and paternal Grandmother Joyce Fielden Harrel. Many close family members, and his “Tree of Life” brotherhood.

His incredible zest for life and his superhero status continue to thrive through his generous and remarkable last gifts to the world as an organ donor. A Celebration of Life will be held at McIntryre’s, 1230 W 20th St, Houston, TX on December 18th, 2021, from 12 noon to 6pm.
