Robert S. “Bob” Dansby
December 11, 1944—September 17, 2021

Robert S. “Bob” Dansby, 76, of College Station, passed away Friday, September 17, 2021.

Bob was born in Bryan to Roland Curtis Dansby and Marguerite Ruth Frederickson Dansby on December 11, 1944. He is preceded in death by his parents and by his brother, William Roland “Bill Ro” Dansby. He is survived by his sister, Binnie-Anne Dansby, by nephews Richard Dansby Kirkpatrick and Robert Bruce Kirkpatrick, and by many cousins.

While a student at Stephen F. Austin High School, Bob was a member of the math club, A Capella choir, and student council. Graduating from Stephen F. Austin in 1963, he went on to attend Texas A&M University. Over the years, he worked in several career fields, including as a scuba diving instructor in Galveston. In later years, he resided in and managed a hunting lodge at the Peach Creek community, College Station, currently owned by two cousins, and once owned by his grandfather, Romney Mabry Dansby.

Bob was an avid student of history, especially military history, which could be evidenced by a look at his vast library of military books and DVDs. In 1961, he participated in the pageant at Kyle Field, Texas A&M, celebrating Bryan’s centennial, in which he and other young men reenacted a battle of the War between the States. Additionally, for many years he was a member of the Confederate/Commemorative Air Force, an organization dedicated to acquiring, restoring, and preserving vintage aircraft.

A longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Bryan, Bob was a man of quiet yet devoted faith in Jesus Christ. He is best remembered for his generosity, honesty, trustworthiness, and integrity.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 23, 2021, between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. Services will be at graveside on Friday, September 24, 2021, at 2 p.m. at Bryan City Cemetery. Memorial Funeral Chapel is handling arrangements.
