Randy is survived by his wife, Mary Helen; his sons, Craig and Brad; his daughters-in-law, Allison Rupert and Jeanevy Abata; his granddaughter, Meiya Miller; and his grandson, Hayes Neptune Rupert Johnson.

He is also survived by many brothers and sisters by marriage; nieces and nephews throughout the United States; and numerous cousins in Mount Pleasant and Cookville, Texas.

Randy was born in Mount Pleasant, Texas, on February 7, 1943, to Melvin and Hazel Johnson and grew up in Cookville, Texas. After graduating high school, Randy left Cookville to attend Texas A&M University and received his Bachelors of Science in Engineering in 1965. He immediately took a job at Dow Chemical Company in Freeport, Texas, where he went on to have a 32-year career.

He met Mary Helen in Houston in 1971 and they were married in 1973. They went on to raise their children in Lake Jackson, Texas, with brief stints in Russellville, Arkansas, and Katy, Texas. After retiring, Mary Helen and Randy moved to Saddlewood Estates in Kerrville, Texas, where they became fast friends with their neighbors and active members of their community.

Randy was a devoted husband, caring father and great friend to many. He loved to solve problems. He was always looking to help others, whether a family member or a complete stranger. While living in the Hill Country, Randy spent many of his nights dancing with Mary Helen to live country music in Bandera and Kerrville.

He and Mary Helen traveled extensively, with Mexico and England being among their favorite destinations. He loved cars, both driving them and caring for them. He loved reading, old movies, classic country music and family.

There will be a celebration of Randy's life at a future date.
