Dr. Charles H. Wentz
October 6, 1933 - August 18, 2020

Dr. Charles H. Wentz, 86, of Pensacola, died August 18. He was born in Norwood, NC to Charles and Martha Wentz who both preceded him in death. His sister, Mary Ellen also preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Pat; his daughter, Anne, son-in-law, Cliff, and grandson, Gabriel. In addition he is survived by cousins, Mary Ann Lore, Bobby Morrow and Bobby Reeves, all of NC.

Dr. Wentz was a lifelong educator, serving as teacher, assistant principal and principal in Wilmington NC schools in the 1960’s. He held a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree from East Carolina University and an Ed.D. from Texas A&M University. Dr. Wentz served in the United States Army in Fort Bliss, Texas and White Sands, New Mexico as an ARCAT radioman.

After graduating from Texas A&M, he moved to the University of West Florida in 1969 and served as a teacher until his retirement in 2003 when he was awarded the designation Associate Professor Emeritus.

Special appreciation is offered to the staff at Covenant Residence for their dedication and care for Dr. Wentz.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dr. Charles H. Wentz Baseball Scholarship Endowment % University Advancement, UWF, 11000 University Parkway, Pensacola, FL 32514.

A celebration of Dr. Wentz’s life will be held at a later date.
