Earl Stanley "Stan" Keese
August 5, 1928 - July 31, 2021
Earl Stanley Keese, 92, of Denison, Texas, known to everyone in North Texas as “Stan” passed away July 30, 2021. Stan was born August 5, 1928 in Stamford, Texas, the son of Ruth Beauchamp Keese and Earl Summers Keese. Stan was a U.S. Army veteran, and a proud Texas Aggie mechanical engineer. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Denison, Texas, where he had served as Elder and Session Member, Sunday School teacher, chairman of the Building and Grounds Committee, member of the Chancel Choir, and board member of the Presbyterian Camp on Lake Texoma.
Stan attended Texas A&M University, where he was a member of the Corps of Cadets and ROTC, rising to the rank of Captain. He graduated from A&M in 1949 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, and begin his career with Webb Air Conditioning Company in Fort Worth.
After his graduation from A&M, Stan met the love of his life, Sara Beth Davis, on a blind date, and they were married in Fort Knox, Kentucky June 23, 1951. Stan and Beth lived in Denison until their deaths.
Stan began his Army career immediately thereafter, deploying to Korea to serve as an Officer with ‘C’ Battery, 82nd AAA-AW-BN-SP, half-track mounted artillery in combat during the 1952 American campaign in the Korean War.
Upon returning from his deployment, Stan and Beth moved to Fort Worth, where Stan continued his career with Webb Air Conditioning. Stan and Beth moved to Denison, Texas in 1961, and established Grayson Climate Engineers with his partner Taylor Walker and his wife Betty. Stan enjoyed his business until his sale of the business in 1997. Stan and Beth traveled the world, visiting many European destinations, and enjoying cruising during their life together.
Stan and Beth had great servant hearts. during their time in Denison, Stan was a proud member of the Denison Lions Club, serving in many capacities, including multiple presidencies. He received the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award, Stan was a board member of the North Texas Goodwill Organization, Denison Public Library, Friends of the Denison Public Library, Denison Rod & Gun Club, Denison Girls Club, American Society of Plant Engineers, Fairview Cemetery, City of Denison Mechanical Board, and Scoutmaster of Boy Scouts of America, Troop 607. Stan received the Silver Beaver Award as recognition of his service to Scouting. Stan was a member of the Texoma Emmaus community, and was a multiple gallon blood donor to the Texoma Blood Bank.
In 2015 Stan and Beth received the Community Builder Award from the Masonic Grand Lodge of Texas, one of the rare awards to non-Masons.
Beth predeceased Stan on September 1, 2019. Stan is survived by son Earl, daughter Rebecca and her husband John Deaver, and son David, grandson Jonathan Keese and wife Chelsea, grandsons Jackson Keese and Greyson Keese, granddaughters Callie Keese and Bella Keese, and great grandchildren Xander Keese, Avery Keese and Catherine Keese, niece Reva Jane Flood and husband Dan, and nephew Tommy Davis, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral service for Mr. Keese will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 6, 2021 at Frist Presbyterian Church in Denison. Interment will be held in Oakwood Cemetery in Jefferson, TX. Family and friends will gather to visit from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, August 5, 2021 at Fisher Funeral Home in Denison.
