John Edward Vanous
1929 - 2021
John Edward Vanous, 91, of Mart, passed away Saturday, August 7, 2021. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, August 12, at the Mart Cemetery with Tom Keener, minister, officiating.
John Edward was born to Johnnie and Gertrude Vanous in Mart, where he was reared and educated. In 1948 he graduated from Mart High School and then attended Texas A&M University. For many years he was a farmer in the Mart area. He was an avid antique car collector. On December 22, 1950, he married Patsy Ruth Warneke. He was a longtime member and elder of the Mart Church of Christ.
His survivors include his wife of 71 years, Patsy Ruth Warneke Vanous; his son, Jay L. Vanous and wife, Donna, of Mart; his daughter, Cindy P. Strunck and husband, Aubrey, of Youngsville, LA; his grandsons, Jayson Vanous and wife, Charnel, of Woodway, TX, Jacob Vanous and wife, Marion, of Mart, and Dillon Strunck of Mobile, AL; his granddaughter, Alexis P. Strunck of Youngsville, LA; his great-grandson, Jagger Vanous of Woodway, TX; his great-granddaughter, Shannon Hyatt of Woodway; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mart Church of Christ.
