David C. Powell
March 27, 1944 - July 1, 2021
Mr. David C. Powell, 77, of Minden, passed from this life on July 1, 2021, at Nacogdoches Medical Center. He was born March 27, 1944, in Longview. David attended Texas A&M University and graduated in 1966. He then served his country in the United States Army where he was stationed in Vietnam 19 months as a combat engineer. After a long career, David later retired as a field representative for the Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board. Mr. Powell was also a member of the Highway 79 Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, David Jason Powell.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Powell of Minden; daughter, Karen Holland and husband Nathan of Henderson; widowed daughter-in-law, Naomi Powell Wills of Bullard; sister, Margaret Minchew of Longview; and grandchildren, Kayley, Esau, Levi, Jonathan, and Grayson.
A private family graveside service will be held at Powell Cemetery under the direction of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home. A register book will be available for family and friends to come by the funeral home and pay their respects on Saturday, July 3, and Sunday, July 4, from 8 am until 5 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children — Shreveport, 3100 Samford Ave., Shreveport, LA 71103.
