Melinda Jan Keels
MAY 16, 1962 – JUNE 1, 2021
Melinda Jan Keels was a caring mother of two and loved by many. As a dedicated disciple of Jesus Christ, she will be remembered by all of the love that she gave and the hearts she touched in His name. She left this world suddenly on June 1, 2021, at the age
of 59.
She was born to Robert and Barbara Girndt on May 16, 1962. After graduating from Katy High School in 1980, she fulfilled her dream of attending Texas A&M University where she graduated with a BBA in Finance in 1984. She returned to school to pursue her passion
for teaching where she received a degree in Elementary Education and English from Houston Baptist University in 1989.
Melinda married Jeff Keels in 1986. They had two children together, Colin and Grace.
Melinda found her true calling when she began as a preschool teacher at The Early Learning Program at The Woodlands Community Presbyterian Church, where she eventually settled in as the Chapel teacher. While there, she shaped the hearts and minds of thousands
of children, parents, and teachers alike.
Driven by a strong conviction to pro-life activism, she began volunteering at Pregnancy Assistance Center North. In recent years, she focused her attention on helping women in crisis pregnancy at Journey Home where she served as a board member and house manager
up until her recent passing.
Melinda was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Morgan Girndt. She is survived by her two children, Colin Daniel Keels and Grace Danielle Keels (Gracie) '18; sister, Meredyth Ann DeBoer '82, her husband, Mark DeBoer; brother, Robert Morgan Girndt, his
wife, Kathy Hutton Girndt; father, Robert Oswald Girndt; and many beloved nieces and nephews
