Matthew Alan Williamson
September 3, 1956 ~ May 30, 2021 (age 64)
Matthew Williamson has gone to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
He is predeceased by his parents George Martin Lee Williamson, Jr. and Mary Ruth Williamson.
He had a great love for his family and friends and would go to great lengths to help them. He was generous of his time and resources. His extensive travels took him to 6 continents for work and pleasure. He enjoyed scuba diving, bike riding, hiking, and taking trips with family and friends where they had many adventures. He also enjoyed playing cards, dominos, and board games while listening to bluegrass music. For more than a decade he led a Bible study that impacted many.
He earned his degree in Chemical Engineering in 1979 from Texas A&M and went on to obtain an Executive MBA and a Law Degree from the University of Houston. He was a member of Squadron 4 in the Corps of Cadets, as well as the National Champion 1976 Fish Drill Team.
He began his career in the oil and gas industry at Amoco, transferred to Amoco International, and later worked for various companies including Mustang Engineering, Parsons and Doris.
Matthew is survived by his four children: John Williamson '06, Sarah Williamson '09, David Williamson '12 and wife Rachel, and Rebekah Langford and husband David; grandson: Silas Williamson; brother: Marty Williamson and wife Linda; nephew: Andy Williamson; niece Kellie Gordon and family.
Visitation will be 5:00 - 8:00 pm Friday, June 11, 2021 at Cypress-Fairbanks Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, June 12, 2021 at the Funeral Home with interment to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Pastor Dave Muntsinger from Cypress Bible Church will officiate. The family will have a gathering after the interment at Sarah Williamson's home.
