Funeral Services for Michael S. Richard, 74, of Rosenberg, TX, are set for 10 AM Friday, June 11, 2021, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 507 South Fourth Street, Richmond, TX 77469, with Father Joseph Ho officiating. Burial will follow in Davis Greenlawn Cemetery, Rosenberg, TX 77471.

Visitation will be 5 - 7 PM Thursday, June 10, 2021, at Garmany & Carden Funeral Directors Chapel, 1201 Fourth Street, Rosenberg, TX 77471.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Dr. Thomas Randle, Mark Reilly, Dr. Robert Satterfield, Trey Henderson, Bob Treacy, and Jim Thiele. Honorary Pallbearers will be H. Paul Clayton and Loren Clay.

Michael was born May 31, 1947, in Darmstadt, Germany, to William and Johanna Richard. He passed away in his sleep on Sunday, June 6, 2021, after battling Parkinson's Disease for almost 4 years. He had been at home on hospice care for nearly two months.

Michael was the oldest of three brothers, spending his childhood in Darmstadt, Lake Charles, Navasota, and Beaumont. He was very proud to be a naturalized American citizen. In 1965, he graduated from Forest Park High School in Beaumont. Michael graduated from Texas A & M University with a BBA in 1969. He was a member of the Corps of Cadets, Company E-2 - "The Mascot Outfit".

Michael proudly served in the United States Army - Field Artillery (1970-72 active duty). He was stationed in Fort Sill, OK, for Officer's Basic Training. He was posted to Hanau, Germany, Service Battery, 6th Battalion, 40th Artillery, 3rd Armored Division, attaining the rank of 1st Lieutenant. After his honorable discharge from active duty, Michael served in the Army Reserve for several years. Using the GI Bill, he took additional accounting courses at the University of St. Thomas and earned his Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certificate in 1980.

His early work experience was in Houston area banking at various banks. He rose from an Audit Officer, to an Audit Manager, to a Vice President, and left the banking industry as an Executive Vice President (1972-1985). Using his banking experience, he became the Chief Financial Manager for Houston Stafford Electric Company (1985-1990). In 1990, he began working for South Texas Medical Clinics in Wharton, TX. He was the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) from 1990-2009. He became the clinic's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) from 2009 until his retirement at the end of 2013.

On September 6, 1969, he married Beverly Ryan. They were married for over 51 years, spending most of those years in Rosenberg, TX.
They had two sons, Ryan and Luke. He was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Richmond, TX. He served for 40 years as Co-Chair of the Coffee Booth at the annual church bazaar.

Michael was always active in community service, his earliest activity beginning with coaching his two sons' soccer teams, attending school events, and 4-H Shooting Sports events. He served our community well as Fort Bend MUD 13 Director 1984-1988, Rosenberg City Council 1988-1997, combined 12 years on the Rosenberg Planning Commission, Board of Directors for ICON Bank, and Lamar CISD Board of Trustees from 2002-2013, with 8 years as Board President. Additional community service included the Rosenberg Increment Reinvestment Zone #1 Board (TIRZ), Central Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Advisory Board of Memorial Hermann - Sugar Land, and the Lamar Education Awards Foundation (LEAF) Board.

Michael's affiliations included Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants, Central Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce, Texas Medical Group Management Association, Texas A & M Association of Former Students, and the American Legion. He was a Life Member of the Fort Bend County Fair Association and the Texas Forestry Association.

Family life was a priority for Michael. He enjoyed spending time at the lake house in East Texas that held so many fond memories. He collected Applied Label Soda Bottles and took much pride in knowing the history of most of the bottles. Michael enjoyed sharing a glass of wine, pizza, Trivia competitions, and good conversations at B R Vino in downtown Rosenberg.

Preceding him in death were his parents, William and Johanna Richard; brother, Glenn William Richard; and in-laws, Herbert and Dorothy Ryan.

Michael is survived by his wife, Beverly Ryan Richard; sons and spouses, Ryan and Blanca Richard and Luke and Andrea Richard; four very special grandchildren, Hannah Richard, Connor Richard, Radley Richard, and Rylan Richard; brother, Dr. Jonathan Richard (Leslie); sister-in-law, Pollyanne Richard; brother-in-law, Martin Ryan (Peggy); his Dad's second wife, Rose Richard; nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many close friends and business associates.

The family gives special thanks to Heart to Heart Hospice and the awesome caregivers at Halo Home Care. Your kindness will not be forgotten by Michael's family and friends.
