June 12, 1927 - January 1, 2020

William Henry Goldston, known as Bill to family and friends after the age of about 20 and Billy prior to that, passed away at the age of 92 years early New Year’s Day 2020 at the King’s Manor Methodist Retirement System in Hereford, Texas.

A Celebration of Life service is scheduled for 7:00 pm, Friday, January 3, 2020 in the Parkside Chapel with John Goldston, his son, officiating. Burial will be 2 pm Saturday January 4 in West Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction and care of Parkside Chapel Funeral Home.

Bill was born (June 11th according to him and his mother, June 12th on birth certificate) and raised in the Dawn and Hereford area. He attended various West Texas elementary schools but graduated from Hereford High School. He went on to graduate from Texas A & M University. Bill’s agricultural degree served him well with a long-time career in Agricultural Civil Services. Bill was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hereford.

He met the love of his life, Ernestine Beatrice Owens at Belton, TX where she was attending Mary Harden-Baylor College. They argued over the actual wedding date for years, but she won the argument – she had 12th August 1951 engraved on their headstone at West Park Cemetery.

Bill is pre-deceased by his wife Ernie, his parents Henry David Goldston and Katy Stepherson Goldston, his brothers Claude Dean, Welborn Ely, Marvin Augustus (Mark), Wade Cleveland, Roy Phillip (Phil), infant James Roger, Thomas Stepherson (Steve), and his infant sister Myrtle. He is survived by siblings: Doris Marie Parker, Florence Elizabeth Pinkston, Glenys Patrick, David Weldon Goldston and wife Nancy Louise Sharp, Dora Fern Roberts, and Frances Goldston. His youngest son Val Gene also preceded Bill in death.

Bill is survived by his three remaining sons, Don Roy '84 of Parker CO, Dan Ray with wife Deborah Ann Wood of Chapin SC, and John Alan '76 with wife Nancy Jane Terry of Alvin TX. There are 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren in Texas, New Mexico, Ohio, New York, North Carolina and South Carolina.

The family suggests memorials to the Hereford Senior Citizens Center, 426 Ranger Drive, Hereford, Texas 79045.
