Lori Lynne Correll
FEBRUARY 7, 1965 – DECEMBER 18, 2020

Lori Correll, 55, joined her heavenly family on December 18, 2020. Lori was born on February 7, 1965 in El Paso, Texas and graduated from Andress High School in 1983. Lori attended Texas A&M University earning her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in English. She also obtained a teaching certificate and began her teaching career in College Station, Texas.

Lori always loved El Paso though and returned home. Brilliant in many subjects, she worked as a math teacher and math coach at Franklin High School later moving to Bowie High School. She truly enjoyed working with the students and her fellow teachers at both schools. Lori was passionate about equality in education and worked hard for many years to improve education for all students.

Lori loved her nieces and nephews including those of her godfamily, remembering birthdays and attending many graduations. She was always there for her family, happy to help in times of need and playing games during family gatherings especially long rounds of Liverpool Rummy. Lori also enjoyed travelling, reading, gourmet meals, theater, the Santa Fe opera, listening to a wide variety of music (Springsteen being a favorite she shared with her brother in law) and summer getaways in the cool mountains of Cloudcroft.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Eva Lou and Raymond Correll, her godparents, Lee and Doris Broome, and godbrothers, Michael and Richard Broome.

She is survived by her brother, Scott Correll, her sister Terese Lahann and husband Jeff, her godsister, Gina Caraway and husband Joe; her nephew Travis Lahann and wife Jenna and their son Evan, her nephew Austin Lahann and fiancée Rachel Luckie, and her niece Karsyn Lahann; her godnephews and nieces: Shane Williams, Shilo Duckworth, Jason Broome, Jonathan Broome, David Broome, Janet Broome, Brandon Ware, Kelli Umansky, and Kevin Broome.

A celebration of life service will be scheduled at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Room to Read at roomtoread.org.
