Michael Douglas Mann
September 01, 1945 - December 19, 2020

On Saturday, December 19, 2020, Michael Douglas Mann ‘67, loving brother, friend of many, and caretaker of his furry friends, passed away at the age of 75 in San Antonio. Michael was born September 1, 1945, in San Antonio, TX, to W.N. “Mike” ‘42 and Ada Mann.

He lived his entire life in San Antonio and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. He received a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from TAMU and a MBA from UTSA. While at A&M he was a member of the Corps of Cadets, the National Champion Fish Drill Team, and Guidon Bearer for C-2. Mike worked for 32 years as a Mechanical Engineer at Kelly AFB until his retirement Sept. 2000. He worked with all foreign governments that bought F-5s from the US.

Michael had 2 passions in life, mountain biking with his friends and caring for his pets.  He loved his rides all around Texas and weekly rides to downtown San Antonio with his biking buddies. He’d ride anywhere he could, Big Bend, Wichita Falls, the Hill Country, Austin, Shiner or to the coast.  He put thousands of miles on his bike. He never met a stray dog or cat that he didn’t like.  He took them in, nursed them back to health, had them spayed or neutered, and loved them.  If he couldn’t find them a loving home, he kept them as his own.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his forever love, Debbie Cross McClellan; sisters Cindy Mann Livingston and husband, EJ; Sandy Mann Wall and husband, Bobby; his brother, Kim Mann, and wife, Kathleen.  He also had three nieces, Kelly Livingston Schumann ’94 and husband, Scott ‘97; Katie Wall Lee-Faulk ’04 and husband, Brandon; and Davida Wall Reynolds ’08 (Galveston) and husband, Chris; two grand nieces and 3 grand nephews.

Michael had a huge heart and an even bigger laugh.  His laugh would fill a room!  He will be missed.

A celebration of his life will be held in early summer.
